Help [Help] Mysterious Over-heating

Ok. So last night I was watching YouTube, but I wasn't holding my phone. But when I picked it up, I noticed it got to 105

Your sensor shows the temperature of the phone's battery. Because it's the phone's most sensitive component.

The Li-Ion battery's upper temperature limits are
for discharging +60C (+140F).
for charging +45C (+113F).

... or did you say the CPU had 105

Do me a favor and try this:

1.) disable gps
2.) place your phone into airplane mode.
3.) go to settings - apps - all and tap maps
4.) tap force stop and select Ok to the prompt
5.) reboot your phone
6.) when your phone reboots go into settings apps all and force stop maps again
7.) turn airplane mode off
8.) leave your phone idle for fifteen minutes and report back here if the phone has cooled off at all.

I attempted this, but I don't have maps. Is this an issue?

I also tried factory reseting, but the result is the same. However I turned the phone to airplane mode and it went down to 90 which is normal, but once I turned off airplane mode, and started using steam (Like 2-3 messages) it went back up to 94.

I know this is probablh normal..... but j still find it odd that it just stays warm now.

Should I try flashing my phones firmware back to stock and see if that helps? Which is something I would rather not due because of the time it consumes....

So you have gps enabled when you turn off airplane mode?

To all who have given me tips:

OK, so I flashed my phones Firmware (MS770f) back to my phone, and everything is normal. Temperature is normal, and the battery isn't dieng as quickly.

It must have been something wring with cyanogen 10 that was causing the issue. I'll flash cyanogen again and see if the problem happens, and if it does, then the ROM is to blame.

Thank you all for your help :)

I had the same problem when I put bobz back on my phone to test the GPS fix.. It got so bad I booted into recovery with 28% battery because I couldn't get it to charge even 1% and i was worried it would die during restoring. After restore I had 7% left :O

Yeah exactly. Its the ROM, cause last night I flashed cyanogen back on, and the problem returned. So I just flashed back ms770f (firmware stock) and it is normal.

I hope there is a fix for it. Cause cyanogen is really a nice mod.

I've posted it numerous times, the fix that is, but I think it is different strokes for different folks, and recreating it is almost impossible depending on the person :(

Here's the problem with your fix: I DONT HAVE MAPS. So I really can't try it.

I'm still confused at what is causing the problem cause I'm new to the flashing of ROMs. :(

It is probly the rom I flashed back to stock cause mine was having the same problem. I noticed that when I turned the phone off using the power button. It wasnt completely off. The screen is black but somehow the display still stays on. Which I think thats why it gets hot.

Nah even without the backlight issue the phone still overheats.
