(UPDATE) Found a tutorial on how to download apps on microSD without root.

I am not sure if it works well with this phone, but you can try it out. It's a video tutorial on youtube that someone made on how to do this. It seems pretty simple and not too hard. I am not sure if there is a specific android version you need to have, I don't believe there is, since it doesn't state that in the video.

Link is below:

How to install Android Apps on SD CARD by default without rooting - YouTube

Credit goes to that guy.

I figured I share it, since I found the video. I've been wanting something like this since we all know the phone has little internal storage.

Share it with Optimus L9 users and people who own android phones with little internal storage. I think it's mostly for 4.0+ users, since that is the version that doesn't have apps2sd.

Found a newer video of another method for this that is easier. Not sure if it works well, but you can try it.

Here is the video: How to move apps to Sd card Lg optimus F3 *No root - YouTube

This is a much faster method than the one I previously posted.

Since you found it, why not go ahead and try it and let us know?
From what I see there though, it looks like a hassle to run and almost all of the comments people left say it didn't work.
Honestly, for the likely aggravation you'll have trying to use this, you could root the phone in 30 seconds with Motochopper, format/partition an SD card, install Link2SD and be done.

Never heard of motochopper, but 30 seconds, really? Never knew that rooting can be that fast.

The reason why I like to avoid rooting is because it usually seems like a hassle, it can slow your phone down, cause bugs/glitches, isn't official software, and can brick your phone. I like official things that work with your phone the way it's suppose to.

When I rooted my LG Optimus Elite a guy had a link to an app on that forum. You just installed app, ran the app, and it rooted your phone. After that you could just uninstall the app.

Other than my OE phone, I have rooted a Coby Android tablet jumping thru all kinds of hoops to accomplish it.

I really don't want to risk ruining my phone. The last time I looked on this site there was not any straight forward instructions for rooting this specific phone. It was for another phone and linked to some other forum and don't know that is was step-by-step. Also, I've yet to see detailed instructions to format/partition the SD card.

Do step-by-step instructions exists for these 2 processes?

I'm not trying to be a jerk. If I was to attempt to do this, I want to make sure I do everything in the correct order.

Thanks

The root process by itself, although not totally without risk, is generally safe as long as you follow the specific instructions for your phone and the particular root method to the letter. It's usually what you do afterwards that can cause problems.
All that the root exploit does is give you access to the inner workings (i.e. root or system files) of the phone that you normally wouldn't have access to. If you do nothing else after rooting, the phone will look and work exactly the same as before, except for the presence of a Superuser app and the ability to change and install things that you couldn't before. You can then choose to selectively do these things as they suit your needs (such as Link2SD, maybe an ad blocker) without going too far into risky territory.
The more extreme side of rooting, and where the real risk comes in, is with installing custom ROMs that completely replace the operating firmware on the phone. If you stay away from this (and I personally have), the chances of bricking or otherwise messing up your phone after rooting go way down. The other caveat is to not mess with anything in the system folder unless you absolutely know what you are doing and understand the possible consequences, especially with a locked-bootloader phone where no recovery is available.
So, when it comes to rooting a little common sense and caution go a long way.
The F3 is the fifth Android device I've rooted and I haven't trashed one yet.

Not if your phone out powers your laptop, you have Windows me or chrome os.

Yup, that's me. Lol.

Still looking for a rooting app that works.
Framaroot lists the f3 and l9 as rootable but fails on my metropcs f3. Poopies

Edit****
Derp. .. it's actually not listed, l3 and f7 are... need more coffee

You can't find a Win7 pooder? Really? You can't be serious.

Best Buy near closing time? (even if you gotta slide the kid $5), a friend?, the library if you explain to them what you want to DL and let them watch you?

You're making something very simple, impossible, because you're trying to pound the square pen into your pooders round hole.

I dont have the internet access to root my phone and I was having a major storage issue. So while I was thinking it over, I thought of how File Manager should have my apps labeled and I could move them from there. Well, I went to the app, opened up Android (since it was the first folder) and found my Social Network apps and wifi needed/required apps(or at least their data files). They all had at least of 60.0MB of data on each so I simply held down on them and moved them to my external sd and voila my internal memory shot right down. I've tested the apps and found they work just as they normally do.
I'm assuming that this solution only works with apps that will use your network data, but they seem to have the most storage used up. Hope this helps those who are shy about rooting or are to lazy to do it. (my Lg Optimus F3 isn't rooted btw).

Apps2sd does not work on 4.1 you have to root, partition your sd card, and use links2sd. There are guides on this forum for all these procedures. Then after that you can use gl2sd to link large game data thus giving you more space. I have rooted many devices and this one was very easy.

This is an old thread, but the problem for a few of us is that, for me for instance, my favorite game maker's games won't play on rooted devices....It sucks.
