[Verizon] Will you buy the Nexus 5?

Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've been here, and still haven't made the jump to 4.3 yet, but I had a question for everyone (and I can't figure out how to make a poll :o )

So I'm assuming most people that have the Verizon GNex was perturbed when we didn't get the N4, so my question is, if the Nexus 5 is available for Verizon (which it sounds like is a possibility), would you stick with Verizon, or make a jump to TMobile or ATT, anyway?

Removable battery & sd card slot or 2 day battery & 64gb might be enough to give up unlimited. I'd have to think hard about it

I think I'm getting the Nexus 5, unless the Padfone 4 is compatible with the necessary bands/frequency.

Likely getting of Verizon no matter what. My contract just ended, just waiting for the N5 to be announced. Then I have to decide between that and the Moto X. I think I want the Moto X more, but price is no doubt a factor, and if the N5 drops with equal / better specs and KitKat all for $200 less than the Moto X off contract, I think my choice is made. Love me some stock Android, so I suppose worse things have happened.

Back to Verizon, I don't have unlimited anymore and I live in a big city, so T-Mobile has the coverage, price and compatibility with Play Store devices to make me consummate the switch.

I was going to get the N5 but my phone died, had no choice but to upgrade now. I was able to keep my unlimited data plan.

Picked up a G2 myself, rooted to clean out some bloatware, and based on what I've seen about the N5 specs, no reason for me to want to change. The only reason for the 5 would've been to have "pure" android like my Gnex was, but really, with the ROMS cleaning up bloat, and who knows what else will come..I think I'm happy with the G2 as it is.

no to both. No i wouldn't leave VZW for the N5 and if was available on VZW no i wouldn't buy it. Not after the way they handled the GNex.

Me too. Switching to T-Mobile as soon as my contract is over in December.

I mean I love the look of the Nexus 5 and such, but there are some key turn offs that will keep me from switching to that device.

I love my GNex and have come to love all the functionality and rooting and roming and customizing that has come with it, and while staying with the Nexus family would be great, I just don't see it happening.

Firstly, I am fine with Verizon and don't see myself switching anytime soon because I have a discount :)

Also, the Nexus 5 doesn't have a removable battery and I love that in a phone.

I have been dying to try out some of the Galaxy line devices, or even a phablet like the Note 3.

I think I'm going to look more into some else, maybe something with a larger screen. I know a lot of people will make the switch, but it's just not one of those phones that has really grabbed me.

I'd be careful about switching to t-mobile. Sure you might save a few $$$ and get the nexus 5, but Verizon has them beat hands down in coverage area. Especially if you travel a lot. Whats the point of having the nexus 5 if you can't make a call due to no network coverage. I twice switched to t-mobile and twice back to Verizon. Never again.

If Verizon was going to carry it, I'd buy it in a second.
Ended up with a G2 and while there are AOSP ROMs out for it, haven't really had the itch to try one. Plus, why Google decided that 2300mAh battery is enough for a 5in screen is beyond me (and non-removable nonetheless).

Yeah I would consider the device if Verizon carried it as well.

I really enjoy the ROM support for my GNex, I hope that my next device will also have the same great support :)

^ this.

<-----See my avatar? That there's a Heep. I like to go to remote places. The only carrier that works in the most remote places is VZW (and USCC since they both share towers/service). The only other carrier I would think of using is USCC, but then I would be roaming in allot of states and they hardly offer any quad band world phones.

With the bootloader unlocked for some of the Moto Droid Razr's and the custom ROM support; now that has me thinking . . . . .

I find it worth paying a little extra each month for rockin' service whether I'm in Cincinnati, or the boonies in Michigan on vacation :p

I haven't really been keeping up with news on the Nexus 5, didn't know about it not having a removable battery. That could be a deal breaker for me too. There's been a few times the GNex froze up and removing the battery was how I got around it. What do people do if something like that happens on a phone with a permanent battery?

What I often recommend if T-Mobile is fine in your area and then you make a trip to the boonies is rock with T-Mobile for your general coverage, then get a pay by the day AT&T Sim for when you travel. That way you keep the generally cheap bill for everyday usage and then have better coverage when you absolutely need it. Because it's sim unlocked, you can change whenever you want.

Phones with non-removable batteries simulate a battery yank by holding the power button for about 15-20 seconds. The non-removable battery is what will permit wireless charging capabilities.

Nobody gets service with AT&T where I live and rock with VZW/USCC.
