however, i can scroll down to the 1st page while it's loading, and i see that the town i'm in has a tower. how certain are we that results on that site = wimax?

Something like 100% WiMAX, but they're not all owned by Sprint, so there's some confusion. Maybe someone else can give us a better answer.

I think the screen is big enough so they wouldn't have any problems seeing it.. They would be a lot better than those vzw phones they have now!!

Towerco is partnered with sprint with the 4g rollout so Sprint will (should) lease those towers. There are probably more wimax towers out there as well

Sorry in advance if this is dumb comment, but... would it be at all possible for Sprint to shrouding this phone in so much dark secrecy that when they do announce a release date and final specs that it will feel like being pounced on by a cheetah traveling 70 miles per hour? Basically is it possible to keep many secrets about such an anticipated phone? The only reason I ask is that a lot of the information I have been reading in this forum and other sources make me think that we don't even know what this phone will be like in its final form, in terms of software and hardware details. Maybe I am just getting my hopes up too high...

I agree, that is kind of devious and a little funny! To do it in a NON devious way, just give them your old phone and YOU take the upgrade and they will never know the difference! Ok, maybe that is a little devious too! However, my parents wouldn't even have a cell phone if I hadn't given them my old one so I could add a line to my account and get a cool new phone that I wanted! LOL

This has already been discussed and confirmed by a few, but just wanted to add my 2 cents as well.

I went to 3 different retails chains (Best Buy, and 2 Radio Shacks) and all of the conversations went exactly like this (give or take a yeah for yes, etc)..

Me: Hey, do you guys know the release for the Evo yet?
Store person: I'm not sure, let me ask
(Manager or senior sales comes out): Its going to be released in May.
Me: May?! Really, I heard early June-ish?
Store: No, it's slated for May right now, as long as Sprint doesn't push it back
Me: And this is for sure, confirmed?
Store: Yep.
Me: Any pro-order options available?
Store: *Yes
Me: Cool! Do you have an exact date for me?
Store: I can't disclose that, but it'll be mid to late-May.

If you read some of my last post I said I had a feeling a mid or late May launch was possible. I am not psychic nor have I asked The big man in charge of all things Sprint in my area yet. I have just used common sense and fact gathering. The contest date,the event in N.Y., and the release date of Prince of Persia. Now all of the sudden a lot of our guys here with reliable info. are saying the same thing. I hope it is true! Evo power activate!!! Form of 4G! Shape of screw the iphone! Wonder Twins anyone???? (Showing my age) Now our big guys on here say no way!!!! AHHHH!!!! Well anyway I want it in May but June won't kill me. I still say June13th is a "line in the sand" date. Like I said I worked in the industry for a while and I know companies will issue a "fail safe date" but a release is possible before that. Please just give it to us we is a bunch of Evo crackheads we needs it now!

Hey community. I was just told that ajac, our wonderful poster over here has been spreading some not so nice rumors about me. Apparently i google everything and just tell you. I wish google worked like that, u know, it having information on the internet before it exists. Someone should make a search engine like that, call it time geenie, it will make you lots of money.

Also, ajac, there are two SPECIFIC dates. That right. I;m NOT saying that Sprint will release the phone on both either. I said bestbuy will release on one and Sprint on the otehr, hence 2 SEPERATE release dates. You catch my drift? If you want the sprint one its a solid June 13th, as of now, if nothing else sets back. Originally the phone was supposed to be late May, but May is not even in the equation. So as you say its May, you are wrong.

Self Praise has said i am valid. He and I have talked on our own and he will back me on what i say as i will back him. He works with early prototypes and is contract bound to not say certain things. I am NOT. My good buddy works there and i spread the stuff SP can't. If you have a problem with what i say, or something is wrong (so far i have been right on and said everything before google has come out with it...) then don;t listen and comment about it here or on other sites.

I am here for you community and i give you REal HARD info on what you can't google. I'm not a fricken search engine, I'm a rumor busting fact making machine.

How much more could a website butcher the EVO? Anyone seen this POS report? I mean they butcher the pic of the EVO in a way so it looks like a Sprint Overdrive hockey puck. The website goes on to further butchering the specs of EVO. I don't know but can't they be sued on that? I mean it has been viewed over 5k times with bogus info.

I was wondering the same thing. Especially since Palo Alto and San Jose are listed and I kind of consider them to be in the Bay Area.

Just blow him off Jackson, Whew, some peeps just can't let go!! I for one appreciate Jackson, Self Praise, and everyone who post there thoughts here. I just signed on a 2yr sprint contract thinking the samsung moment was worth the plunge. I had not lurked about and find all the insight of true professionals posting. I would be locked in a 2yr contract at the same time EVO would be dropping. I would be the poor smuck thinking this is what I get for signing up on a 2yr contract again.

I just say thanks to our inside peeps dropping the info bombs and everyone else doing there detective work. Speculation is what moves this thread and keep hope alive. Sometimes that means opinions will bump heads, but that is what keep the hope alive too. Hope for the specs on EVO were wanting, Hope for 4g rolling out in area's were praying for, Hope for the date EVO will be in our hands.

I think you have a valid point, but it eludes me at this time. I am of a simple philosophy and hate to quote this "If you build it they will come" Meaning if you put a good product out, people will come. I would take a serious look at purchasing Sprint stock. I know that I did<---(Yesterday)

Even if the Evo shines and outweighs the iPhone in every single spec (which it won't, but let's say it dd) it still wouldn't outsell an iPhone. Evos are geared towards tech geeks and enthusiasts and some business users here and there, while the iPhone is the phone your going to see every single teenager carry around and flash at their friends, then on TOP of all that you have the brainwashed hardcore I even Apple logo'ed my house type user which will no doubt have it as well.

the dual cores aren't scheduled to be out till next year. see leaked ARM roadmap on engadget. Apple retweaks ARM chips they don't come up with them from scratch so the new iphone will at best have the same chip that's in the itampon which is good but not 1.5 or dual.

I hate adding a log to the iphone fire but the iphone will out sell HTC because everyone knows the apple logo, they know the company, they know it&#8217;s been around for decades making both hardware & Software. Their (phone) market penetration is ridiculous and their marketing is unrivaled.

HTC has been around for a while but they have just recently become more prevalent based on the recent phones they have released. People that buy apple are really buying a name, a product from a trusted company that&#8217;s been there and done that, nothing more. I don't hate apple, I also don't own any of their products but they have a following that is beyond belief. They WILL of course sell more iphones for the time being, that is until HTC/Android become more recognized and embraced by the casual cell phone users along with the power geeks. One day HTC will become more of a mainstream brand because of people like you and me who support new tech from up and coming companies. Just not yet.

I agree with your statement but remember this is the first generation of 4G capable phones. Given time I think your logic of "build it and they will come" will start to happen but right now I think people will sit back and watch maybe let others test the waters for them, some people are afraid of change.

Although we do live in interesting times, 10 years ago alot of people we're still on dial-up and still only a few people had high end flip phones which didn't have internet connection for anything other than to maybe call back to a carrier based ringtone store and maybe buy a ringtone. We're now close to carrying a broadband internet connection and a pocket sized PC in our pockets it's interesting to see all this happen and I wonder at times what my little kids will have when they grow up.
