S 4 or android connectivity

Hello I have 2 questions today which I have tried to research but perhaps I am using tye wrong terms.
1 I would like to connect my sony compact camera to my galaxy s4 active in order to transfer photo's and video etc is this possible via plug and play or will I require an App. If this is possible couod you connect to any storage device or sd card etc?
2 Also is it possible to use a microsoft Excel package or emulator on the phone ? I ask as my girlfriend uses exel to record sports competitions results at the school where she works and being able to adapt this for her samsung tablet or her s4 mini would he great . I think it has to be finaly finaly recorded on Exel for storage .

If the camera shows up as a standard USB drive then you might be okay. Otherwise I have no idea.
I use Quickoffice Pro. It opens and lets me edit excel files with no problem.
 
I don't know if you are still looking for a solution to this but I don't think an unrooted S4 will allow you to access another device like a camera via a USB cable.
You could connect the camera to your PC and then use Samsung Link to view it as another drive on your computer. That should allow you to copy the photos to the S4.
 
Hai Iam from chennai. I use Reliance Netconnect - Huwaei E 1260 dongle (No sim inside). Now I have got Samsung Galaxy tab 3 - SM-T315. can i connect my dongle in my tablet? and how? It is not connecting.
