Few questions about Cyanogenmod

Few weeks ago i managed to root my SGS2 by myself (yay) ,now i'm heading to Cianogenmod because i heard CM 10.2 brings Android 4.3 to SGS2 (correct me if i'm wrong). I do only see CM 10.1 in their site - what version of Android does it use?

I'm currently using Stock 4.1.2 (rooted) with Clockwork Mod. I read about how to install the CM and it seems straight forward (install zip via Clockwork Mod) but i should make factory reset in clockwork after flashing to CM because superbrick may occur (that's what they advice), but before doing all this i have to ask few questions.

- Does CM comes pre-rooted and will Clockwork mod remain?
- Does CM updates itself when new version is released or i have to flash it again?
- Should i wait for CM to release their installer or do this now?
- Do i have to make other (special) preparations before installing CM?
- Anything other important things i need to know before doing this?

CM10.1 is Jelly Bean 4.2 I believe. (It may be 4.1.x)
You will still be rooted after installing the ROM.
You would have to flash the new version when it comes out.
I would say go for it and flash it now :D
I would recommend making a nandroid backup, and then a full wipe (excluding SD card) before installing CM. I can't remember for CM, but for some roms you may have to install a gapps.zip file which will install the Play Store for you.

And thats about it!

Aight cool! But from what i've been told CM 10.1 is 4.2.2 and CM 10.2 is 4.3 - the problem is that CM 10.2 is still Nightly and i'm kinda scared to be honest. I expect many bugs from Nightly builds and i don't want to flash any other than 10.2 (Android 4.3)

You are very right, cm10.2 is android 4.3, back when cm 10 came out I was flashing the nightlies very successfully, and I never had any issues(was even dual booting it with ics roms) however, some things won't work etc.

Best bet is make a nandroid, save it to an external source too, do a full wipe and install the nightly you wanna try, and see how it goes....absolute worst case scenario that is likely to happen(hard brick aside) is you'll have to do a full format and boot into download mode to flash a stock Rom with Odin, then re root it and start again/flash your nandroid once re rooted!
 
I'm not familiar with this Nandroid thingy, as i mentioned above i rooted my phone for the first time few weeks ago so i'm not that power user - still learning.

By the way i heard this 10.2 nightly is pretty stable - i might give it a shot.
 
Nandroid just means take a backup using your custom recovery (ClockworkMod in your case). It backs up your ROM as well as apps and data, so if you have a problem, or just don't like the new ROM, and want to switch back to your old ROM you just go back into CWM and restore the nandroid backup and everything is just like it was when you made the backup.

Some time ago I thought I'd be clever and do a few nandroid backups so I could, in effect, swap between nandroids at will, sort of multi booting if you like. But it was not to be. The first time I tried I got an error message telling me the restore had failed.
I did a bit of research, and it seems that to restore a nandroid, it has to have the same kernel as the rom it's replacing, at least that's my understanding of the situation. I may be wrong, but the upshot was, my 'clever' wheeze of multi-booting was shot down in flames.

Bump.

I'm running the stable release of CM 10.1.3 on my SGS2, and it is Android 4.2.2.

The only issue I've got is that I haven't (yet) gotten an FM Radio app to work. I had one in my carrier (Bell) stock firmware but it won't run under CM. Other than that, I think I've gotten over the learning curve with it now and would recommend it to others. I really didn't appreciate just how much bloat Samsung stuffs into their firmware. My phone seems a little snappier without it, but the reception seems just a bit worse, though the latter could be my imagination.

To expand upon the bloat point, when I upgraded to Bell's JB release, I actually ran out of internal storage space. I had to move apps to the SD card which I thought was ridiculous. After wiping the phone and going with CM, I'm sitting at 660+ MB free.
 
Unfortunately cyanogenmod didn't support the fm radio,, only suggestion is to use an internet radio instead, sorry
