Root wifi hotspot that will work with this phone and a 3DS?

Short and sweet,

I want to be able to hotspot so that I could have my 3DS online even when I'm not near an accessible router.

However, to date I've yet to find a single app or phone combo that seems to make this possible.

I'm currently rocking the HTC One SV and it is successfully rooted. However, I have yet to find a single app that will even work for the purpose. Even when the 3DS is able to detect the hotspot, it refuses to connect.

What app would work with this phone so that I can use it for that purpose?

Since I am Cricket, I don't know about the tethering issues. *I don't pay the 55, so I get the "Oh you're tethering. OK we'll just cut off your service for an hour, so go and use wifi."*
I think Quick Settings works, but ... it only has a toggle that leads to the panel. Don't you have the tethering settings already? It's located under "More > Mobile Network sharing > Portable Wi-Fi hotspot".

I have no such setting anywhere. Mine is with Boost Mobile.

To date, I've yet to find a single tethering solution or app that will work with the 3DS. At most I can get the tethering to be recognized as a hotspot when I search, but it fails to connect every single time, and this has happened with every single phone I've tried so far. Currently stuck with this one until something happens to it that would require replacing it, since I have a replacement plan with Best Buy.

Intresting as how they removed those toggles in the Boost Mobile version.
Have you tried PDANet yet? I know it's a trial but at lest you can get on the Intranets without accessing any "https:\\" websites.

Just did. It won't even assign the SSID properly, much less any security settings, or even to allow it to connect at all.

Wow. Boost has locked up their phone tightly...I have never had problems like this on ANY carrier. *Not even Virgin, as they are very generous with their data, and don't want anyone tethering. I wonder if there is actually anything that would let it work...I'm still looking.

Have you tried this yet?

Edit the lines in build.prop ro.tether.ui=0 to ro.tether.ui=1

there are 3 lines like this change each value to 1 and tether will be enabled.

Boost Mobile is staring to get irritating for you isn't it? Good luck.

Um, where would I find that?

As I said, I've tried a number of different phones, and a number of different apps. I've yet to find a phone or app combination that actually works, even when rooted.

So, if you have s-off, you can access the /system within ES, right. So go get ES, and enable root access to mount /system as Read/Write. Then go to /system, and you'll find build.prop. Make sure to back it up before making the changes listed above.

No issue with the app I am using from that thread with my 3DS XL here do you have the settings int he tethering app correct?

what app? and what settings are you using?

I've tried with even just completely disabling all security for it to connect and a lot of apps still show up as a secured hotspot in the connection finder on the 3DS. But even when the settings do match, it still fails to connect at all when I do the connection test.
