Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Has it hit yet?

Trying to figure out which weather service is most reliable, and Pup, you look like the perfect test candidate. Weather Bug shows a big one headed your way. But Weather Channel/Weather.com shows you completely in the clear. So does Weather Bomb. One of 'em is wrong, right?

Think I've gone stupid... did a 5k race two weekends ago, a 10 mile race this last Saturday night and it looks like I'll be doing a half marathon in November.

What am I thinking!?!

In Pittsburgh all day today. That was the coldest baseball game I have ever been to! Luckily there was no rain. The battery on G2 did a great job, heavily used!

Here's some pics..

Never had a smart phone battery last this long.
It's pretty unreal, isn't it.

Decided to do an endurance test over the weekend. Unplugged Sat morning. Left WiFi on, Bluetooth, GPS, Widgets, Google Now updating cards, and normal use. Phone, texts, games and some maps. Granted I didn't leave the screen on for hours, etc. Just wanted to see how long it would go under my normal use.

Here's the result. Its Monday night and ready to plug in. Over 60 hours with some left. Could well be more if I actually tried to save some battery. Screen on time was almost 4 hours. That's 3 full days of use.

3 more hours on 5% battery? That's pretty good.
They base that estimate remaining on your prior 3 hours of use. You can see on the chart I used it a bit more in the final hour. I bet that 5% would have lasted overnight, so might have been able to stretch it out to 70 hours, but then I'd wake up to a dead phone. However, with USB3 charging, only takes little over an hour to full charge.

Point is, under normal (for me) use, this thing will last. I usually had no issue going 14+ hours on the GNex, but she was dead by that time. And I had Google Now shut off because that seemed to kill things faster. And if I actually tasked it using maps, games or movies, it would kill it much faster.

Its just reassuring that for a normal day, you can hit the G2 pretty hard knowing that you'll have some battery left at the end of the day. I'm curious to see if the Snapdragon 800 equipped Note 3 lasts just as long.

Morning folks! Looks like some pretty good battery life on the G2 there. I'm still getting plenty on my Moto X. The thing that kills mine is the game I play. I routinely hit 4 hours of screen on time without plugging in. Standby is excellent on it as well. I noticed it beeped at me for 14% warning while driving and I didn't use it the rest of the way except for a couple of quick glances... got home 3 hours later with 10% left. Got some pics this weekend I'll try to share. Got my camera fix update last week.

Oh, I decided to see if I could spot the international space station last night using an ISS Tracker app. Counted down to the exact time and showed me the exact direction to be looking. Even gave me an elevation guide which was like a little bubble level on the phone that gave me a line of sight. Worked like a charm, never realized the ISS was so visible.

Good morning all - happy Tuesday.

Glad to see everyone is loving their new phones and that the Note 3 is starting to be sent to its anxious buyers.

Devices have really come along way since our precious GNex, huh?

I gotta say, this is how you make a trailer.

Anyone remember / still have nightmare from the original:afraid:

Jmar I never thought I'd see the day. :p
Although, I briefly thought of asking if any of my friends in the area had one of those to use during my Avon Walk. Only because I figured the battery would last longer. Then I realized, after helping one of the customers at work, that I'd rather not have a phone than use one for any length of time. I'm just going to do my best to make my 3 batteries last.

It really is a boring UI experience. The camera is fantastic, however. The apps are mishmash right now cos most developers have not updated their apps to iOS 7, so the majority of apps look like iOS 6...ugly.

I can't wait for the Nexus 5. It will be my daily driver with the iPhone 5 as a backup and way to have full compatibility with the wife's new 64GB iPhone 5!

Missing my Nexus 4 very much!

Hey Natty, I'm trying to improve my pizza dough recipe...you any pointers?

Pizza dough is one of those that I rarely even measure ingredients.
Really the only couple pointers I have is: use AP flour, good flour like King Arthur and after the dough is fully proofed, refrigerate it for at least 6 hours or overnight. It helps develop flavor and makes it easier to stretch.
