Help Experience with Screen Repair Company?

I managed to crack just the glass on my GS4. Digitizer works. Screen works. Everything works, except class is cracked.

On S4, glass is hot-glued to digitizer-screen assembly. Glass is sold separately, but you have to remove the screen assembly, heat gun the glass off the assembly, add new glue, reassemble, etc. Watched on YouTube and it's not for me.

I have Googled several phone repair places that will take your phone and replace the glass for a cost from $95-$150.

Has anyone used one of these companies? Experience? Did they perform well? Quick service?

Don't want to send my phone off blind... Help me find a good place!

Thanks!

My only experience with one of these was with a company called M Blue here in the UK (they trade as iphonerepairs.com and samsungphonerepairs.com amongst other names). They were terrible, made a complete hash of it and when repeating the repair pretty-much destroyed the phone's shell (Galaxy S3). It does still work but it's not very well.

I hope someone can recommend a good one for you - I would've done the repair myself had I known how poor they were going to be.

Thanks Griff, for the info and warning!

Has someone had this done by an American company and what were your results?

I'm looking for spotless glass replacement, no fingerprints, no dust, no scratches.

Also, I don't want the case mangled for them to get inside.

Surely, there are some reputable repair companies out there, we just need to find them and promote them!

Are you with one of the 4 large carriers? If so, try to go to their store and see whether they can help. I'm with Sprint, and they are occasionally very helpful (had my GNex screen replaced for $50 last year even though I didn't have insurance thru' them)

AT&T to >10yr customer with 3 lines with 3 month old phone: screw you, talk to Samsung.

Did you go to an actual store? or talk to them over the phone? The phone reps cannot do anything. Store reps may be willing to help (tell them that you'll add the insurance package or whatever)

Assuming you paid using a credit card, try contact your Credit card company. They may be able to help.

I actually found that I am covered in two ways.
  1. Paid for the phone using one card - that card covers drops/theft etc for first 6 months, and then, extends manufacturer's warranty by a year (no drops/theft though)
  2. I pay my cellphone bill using a different CC. That CC has very limited benefits compared to my other cards, but when I pay my cellphone bill using that, they cover any damage (including drops) for ever (as long as I use that card for paying the cellphone bill)

YMMV

Yeah, I was kind of stupid. I let the charges for the new phone go onto my cell phone bill, and I automatically pay my cell phone bill directly from my checking account. I'll have to look into direct paying from my AMEX, and see it that gets me any future benefits!

Thanks!

Anybody had their screen repaired recently?????
