Official Metro GSM device/network/Tmobile-ish discussion thread

from a little bird, and think about it too, the ATT one has band 4 built in, just a matter of time before we/t-mobile gets it

All new AT&T devices include B4 doesn't mean we'll get all of them. And if it is coming to tmobile wouldn't be for a couple months since it would need a FCC filing and the phones are normally released 3 or so months after the FCC filing

well, I'm not doubting you, you know this, but I did hear it from my little bird, and since when do all the new ATT phones come with Band 4?

Well all new LTE phones and ever since they acquired AWS spectrum. They're not gonna roll out a network with no compatible phones

**All LTE phones by AT&T have included B4 support for LTE

true, the only thing keeping me back from getting one right now(the mega) is the fact I can't put insurance on it cuz it being BYOD, so I'm kinda holding off cuz of its size

Damn I know not many people here have a Nokia windows phone on here but I'll ask the question anyways, what's the apn mms setting for the byop

edit: OK never mind. I got the fix :)

Actually i hope someone can chime in but theres this webaite out there and you paid a fix price for like 2 years of insurance! Hopefully someone remembers the name of it..

this is a test taken inside my house. With my Connect i didn't get any service (let alone any 4g) but with my new Optimus F3 i get awesome coverage and even 4g/lte

Looks like they're slowly refarming the towers here. I'm learning to read the Nokia field test it briefly picked up a 1900 MHz signal. Under UARFCN it said 662.

that's good news to here, network upgrades etc

Yes that is good news, but maybe overboard because MetroPCS lost total cell phone service in south florida on september 8, 2013 for a couple of hours. see article in other post with video in link.

Any idea if Amazon will start selling the MetroPCS GSM phones any time soon? I'm looking to buy the L9 for someone, yes over the F3 because of the 4.5 screen, but I only see Amazon selling the CDMA phones. I have stored up trade in credit on Amazon and would prefer to buy the phone with that on Amazon.

I'm pretty sure they will upgrade you to the $60 unlimited since the $55 is for CDMA phones which I have it to so I'm just sitting it out till The nexus 5
Nope... My sister got to keep her $55 plan after upgrading from the Esteem(cdma) to the Optimus L9(gsm). The rep told me that as long as you have a plan that is not less than $40 it can be carried over.

@OGAdmire:
You're better off asking at a corporate store or calling metro than asking here where you'll get different answers.

So since the LG G2 is out, is it out on t mobile? If so could I get one and have metro enable to run off their service?

Hypothetically speaking of course, like I got the money to buy the G2 lol

Okay thanks because I've been looking at the LG Optimus F6 and it looks pretty cool so I might get it soon or later

OK, I have found my first and hopefully only glitch.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Mega through AT&T, my local Metro PCS store switched it over.

It won't let me tether for wi fi hot spot, I'm getting a "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM" from what I've googled, there is no fix, the phone is apparently trying to tether through T Mobile but I have a Metro PCS SIM so T Mobile won't let me.

If anybody has heard of a fix, please let me know.

Bit of a bummer, but thankfully I don't use the feature much. Everything else working fine.

I was in a Metro authorized dealer and was told that if I buy a GSM phone, it will connect to T-Mobile 's towers, but not Metro' s.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

when I did that in my area it mapped new area's that when I tried under a cdma phone it was already there..so im assuming it will be mapping for tmobiles towers even though you have it under metro..but that's not a comfirmation someone else might know
