Root [ROM][MS870][LOKI] Samurai ROM

just about to lose it, I can't get V2 to transfer to my phone from computer and every time I try downloading to my phone it fails. I was also having trouble downloading to computer. I am running V1 and it is awesome. Thanks GT:D

P.S. just had to vent thanks for listening. I'm sure I'll get it figured out.

Hi GT,

I'm rather new to this and need some guidance as to how to safely install your Samurai Rom. I've backed up all my data with Titanium so that much I know. I have LTE2Recovery Touch installed but not sure if or how to use it. Should I flash ClockworkMod Touch Recovery v6.0.3.3 first, and then install the Rom? If you could step by step this for a newbie I'd appreciate it. I'm not even sure what buttons to hold to get to the "Wipe data/factory reset" dialogue. Any way you can simplify this for me would be good. I have all the zips on my external SD card.

Thanks for all you do,

Tom

PS I just found a "clockwork mod" folder on my external SD card with a backup for Katana dated 6/30/3013, can't remember how I did it.

Flash the cwm touch recovery. To use lte2 you select Recovery Apply and then hit reboot. When the phone powers back on you will be in the touch recovery. From there everything else is self explanatory. DO NOT flash the ROM before you wipe everything. Just follow the steps on this first page and you'll be fine ;)

Ok.. Did a new backup and got to backup complete. Tapped "reboot system now" and it keeps coming back to the same choices:
reboot system now
install zip from SD card
install zip from sideload
wipe/data factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup and restore
mount and storage
advanced

Stuck and not sure what to do:confused:.

Tom

Screwed up..went into recovery to install GT's slotted battery icon and lost all the settings and have to start from scratch. Only have voice input...no keyboard???

Decided to redo again.

Sounds like you did a data wipe/factory reset when you flashed the battery.

When you flash battery icons, themes, or mods you cannot wipe data/factory reset. Just flash those zips and that's it. Just follow the instructions that come with each flashable.

Thanks Guys, I setup and configured Samurai, reinstalled from titanium, etc..then went into recovery using Quick Boot to flash battery icons and the phone just rebooted without giving me any choices. I was back to square one with Samurai, all my apps gone and no keyboard. Don't know what I did wrong and because the keyboard was gone I decided to start over. All set now, tempted to try to flash Freedom Kernel 1.674ghz Overclock but not sure how to proceed. Love what I'm seeing with this ROM...Thanks GT, and thank you both for your replies. Tom

At the moment you don't have a recovery installed to flash anything. Here's what you must do...

1. Go to this next link and install 2nd-init recovery like a normal app (do not use quick boot for this recovery). If you have 2nd-init recovery already installed then skip step 1.
http://androidforums.com/spirit-4g-...962-recovery-lte2-recovery-app-now-touch.html

2. Then use 2nd-init recovery to flash an official recovery from next link...
http://androidforums.com/spirit-4g-...lockworkmod-recovery-lg-spirit-ms870-l1m.html

3. Once official recovery is installed you can uninstall 2nd-init recovery like a normal app.

4. Now you can use official recovery to flash anything you want and you can use quick boot to get into this recovery.

OK Thanks, but somewhat lost. I have 2nd-init recovery already installed. Not sure what to do in step 2. I Downloaded LG_Spirit_Recovery.apk and Spirit-CWMT.zip from the link you gave me. Are you saying flash Spirit-CWMT.zip? Should I ignore LG_Spirit_Recovery.apk? Will one (or both) of them take the place of 2nd-init recovery? Sorry for my confusion:confused:.

Thanks........Tom

Flash Spirit-CWM.zip with 2nd-init recovery and forget about LG_Spirit_Recovery.apk then proceed with step 3 in my previous post.

Thanks GT,
Installed Spirit-CWM.zip and then uninstalled 2nd init recovery with titanium plus. How can I check that it installed properly? I think you said that I can use quickboot now but I'm a bit gun shy. I'd like to make a backup of my system like I did with Katana.

Thank you again...........Tom

Yes... Quick Boot will get you into recovery then you can make a backup and flash anything you want that's available for this phone. Also going forward you will not have to install recovery again, even if you install a new rom.
