Anyone have an opinion comparing the Samsung optical reader vs google goggles? They seem to do the same things from what I can tell. In fact optical reader opens goggles whenever i take a pic using it.

They are quite different. The Optical Reader uses the camera to recognize text and extract information. You can point it at words, contact information, and QR codes, then save it as contact. In addition, you can detect text in a different language and have it translated to a language of your choice.
Google Goggle is whole a lot more. It recognize landmarks, brands, logos, wine, arts and so much more. And it's quite damn good at it I was in Italy, it pretty much recognized everything, and provided me direct and detailed (wiki like) info on the subject.
It does work quite well. You need to keep in mind that each card has a different layout, foreign names, numbers formatted in non standardized manner, etc... So to capture entire card, might be too much confusion trying to analyze and identify the right info.
But, if you point at name and contact, rather than the whole card, it works really well.
I took my customer card and capture just the name and his personal details. The Optical Reader identified correctly the name, phones and e-mail. Then all I had to do, was to press the +contact icon, and the info was placed accordingly in its respective fields.
Thanks everyone! Yeah Goggles is a great app. I've used it at art shows to get detailed info, and while traveling as well. Used to to take a pic of the Hard Rock sign in Vegas and got a listing of all the upcoming bands! I'll have to give optical reader more of a workout and see if its' functionality is all that useful for me
