Help app updates and installation issues

Hi, im having trouble installing apps and updating them but I have enough free space in the app partition and (if it matters) I have space in all other partitions too. Im one o/s update from the latest (thanks to this issue) also whilst trying to solve the issue myself I noticed almost everything I was trying to update was logged as being 'on sd card' I dont have an sd card and they aren't bad apps and my phone hasnt been messed with in any way. Any help would be awsome. The only thing putting me off android.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums chrisspriggs23! :)

Lets see if we can help...

Hi, im having trouble installing apps and updating them but I have enough free space in the app partition and (if it matters) I have space in all other partitions too. Im one o/s update from the latest (thanks to this issue)

Currently there are 18 versions of the Galaxy S4 and around a thousand different firmwares. See, 18 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?. It may be helpful if you could post your version and firmware details as shown in the link.

also whilst trying to solve the issue myself I noticed almost everything I was trying to update was logged as being 'on sd card' I dont have an sd card and they aren't bad apps and my phone hasnt been messed with in any way.

The internal phone storage is referred to as sdcard whilst the removable storage is known as extsdcard, (external sd card). An app, free from the Play Store, called Android System Info will give you a better overview of your storage.

My two suggestions are to get an external sdcard and a Factory Reset to clear any detritus from your phone. You should backup any important info first and make sure that all your apps, settings, contacts and calendar are all sync'd to your Google account. Others on here may suggest other alternatives.
