No, I'm talking tethering. Hesse said at CTIA, for now there won't be an extra charge for the EVO to use 4G.
Will there be a charge to tether 4G, and not use the hotspot?

The EVO 4G becomes/replaces/acts like a mobile hotspot. Right? Will there be a charge to tether 4G, and not use the hotspot?
Has anyone else been able to input their email address on that Best Buy site that was posted awhile back? Something that supposedly BB just put on their site today, allowing you to sign up for availability notifications through them as well. Every link I've followed from here doesn't load the supposed email entry box...just asking.
Hopefully, with the EVO's help, and perhaps a couple more 4G phones by the end of the year....WiMax will be able to entice some big companies as using them for a standard.
Maybe so, but that app is an integral part of the phone. I saw a video where they were just going into "Router Settings" or something like that.
From the way I understand it, you will be able to tether without the extra charge, but there's a limit of 5 GB, I believe.

Isn't the Galaxy S coming to Sprint? It would be smart for Sprint to throw a WiMAX radio in there to set it apart from its counterparts on the other carriers.
If you're just going off of the rumors on this site, I think you've got a couple things mixed up. I think the limit you're talking about is a limit on 3G data (the numbers match up).
If Sprint decides to charge extra for tethering (and I think they will), I'm not sure how they'll prevent someone from just using an Android app that allows it.
I haven't seen any news on this. I've seen AT&T Rumors and TMobile rumors. Sprint wouldn't just be "throwing a WIMAX radio in there". That change would be done at the manufacturer, and would be a big deal. IF the rumors are true about AT&T and Tmobile getting the phone, it would have to be a VERY different phone (2 different chips, one for cell data, and one for 4G data) to actually work.
Sorry, but based on the current rumors, I don't see this phone coming to Sprint.
I was going from memory. If you think it's 3GB and not 5GB, I'm with you. I don't really understand your idea of using an app to tether if it's already built in. Don't you think Sprint will be able to monitor how much data your phone is using each month? I have to believe it will be metered. How else will they know if you've used the 3GB or not?If you're just going off of the rumors on this site, I think you've got a couple things mixed up. I am sure you'll be able to tether for no extra cost, but the mobile hotspot feature will cost extra.
Here is a thought and do no think I saw this mentioned anywhere. Wouldn't it be a great idea for the EVO to allow one to print information from your phone?
Okay, so I’ve gotten a bit confused by all this. What do you see as the difference between tethering and using the phone as a wifi hotspot? Aren’t they basically the same thing? Or when you are talking about tethering are you referring to connecting the EVO directly to just one other device (such as a laptop) via USB or something along those lines?
For anyone who is having trouble with the Best Buy site and isn't able to sign up for notifications, if you'd like you can PM me with whatever email address you'd want notified and I will sign you up as soon as I can.![]()

Okay, so I
I must say, tongue-in-cheek, why bother signing up for ANY site to receive e-mail notifications regarding the Evo.
If you continue to keep tabs here, you'll most certainly be the first to know!![]()
Huh????????????Wimax wasnt expected to live long anyway just a stop gate till lte was fully functional sprint was planning on going LTE anyway if you watched the CTIA key notes.. its to bad LTE and wimax coudlnt get along and play together would have been faster for everyone.
