If I pre-order today.......

Do you think it would get shipped today where I would have it tomorrow or Wed??? I currently have it pre-ordered at Best Buy but I am seriously considering canceling that and doing it online if it means I may get it a day or two sooner............
 
From the sounds of things, you wont get it until thursday, I have heard they are shipping orders in the order of which ones were placed first. but they are still guaranteeing thursday delivery.
 
There's no guarantee you'd get it early, as some are assuming we'll get ours early. I wouldn't worry about the hassle of changing your order for the change of MAYBE getting it on Wed. instead of Thurs. But that's your choice.
 
Yea, that is what I figured. I should have pre-ordered last week. From the sound of things people may get them today or tomorrow. I thought I would be waiting around all day Thursday for FedEx so I did Best Buy so I can go get it when they open. I blew it.
 
It would probably be silly at this point to try to change everything. I will just stick with it. On a different topic....I am stealing my wife's upgrade for this. Do you think I need to bring her phone with me to Best Buy too??
 
As much as I hate to say it....I would try to call the 800 number to see if you can preorder over the phone. Those orders I believe are processed right away. Perhaps now that they are processing orders they released the block from phone orders. Just a thought.
 
I'm in the same situation. I pre-ordered at bestbuy because i thought that was the only way to get the instant $100 and didn't want to risk missing the fedex delivery. Now i really wish i pre-ordered online, I probably would have it tomorrow. Also, now i'm not sure bestbuy honors the NE2 discount and they don't offer the same insurance as verizon...

Anyways i'm pretty sure that i will just suck it up and wait for bestbuy with no insurance. As for the NE2, I'm trying to use it towards an added line, which i'm not sure verizon does that either....

I feel childish but the wait is seriously killing me and interfering with my studies...

If you order on the phone or online you get an instant rebate. You only get a mail in if you go inside the store. I double checked a couple days ago before I ordered mine. Free activation if you order on the website too (not sure about over the phone on that part though).
 
if you've already ordered with Best Buy, just stick with it. Is it REALLY worth cancelling and re-pre-ordering with the hopes that you MIGHT get it a day early?? It's not worth it, cause there's no guarantee until Thursday anyway.
 
I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt you would receive anything tomorrow. I would also venture to say you only have a 30% chance of receiving it on Weds.

Of course, I have no basis for this, except for the fact that there are many people who ordered days before you and they seem to do it by order #.
 
Yea, I am sticking with Best Buy. I am just a little concerned about the ability for them to change my plan and also take my wife's upgrade to my phone. I am also wondering if you will get the SD Card with Best Buy.
 
I preordered on saturday morning and i don't have any confirmation of shipping. Hopefully that comes through tonight but i'm not expecting it until tuesday, i would like to be suprised though ;)
 
Definition of frustration:

I pre-ordered on 4/18 @ 10 PM PST. This past Saturday at 1:55 PM PST, I received an email saying that the order could no be completed (issues with the family plan). I called VZW immediately but their office closed at 2 PM PST. I couldn't do anything about it until this morning.

At 5:45 AM PST today I called VZW to rectify the problem. I was told I have two options: A) Transfer the order to a separate, non-family plan and get the phone by Tuesday 4/27, or B) re-order through the family plan today and get the phone by 4/29. The kicker is that if the order had gone through on Saturday, like it was supposed to, I'd have the phone TODAY...ARGH!

I ended up re-ordering the phone via the family plan. Hopefully they'll still have some in stock.

I thought I was slick and went to best buy on the first day of preorder to be #1 on the list because it was rumored they were the only ones without a mail in-rebate at the time and I wanted to get my phone in person.

Now I even see online orders have free activation AND are shipping early?

Guess I should have gone online before I went to the store that day. I think I'll be able to get the free activation fee anyways according the the manager. If they change their mind maybe I'll tell em to bug off and order online based on principle.

Hosed once again. Don't let me buy any lottery tickets.

Negative. I called Verizon and the phone reps match any online incentives.
 
How much is activation going to set me back at Best Buy??? I really think this might have been the wrong decision!
 
If its an upgrade there is no activation, if its a new line then there is.

Final price wise yes. However, at the store they will only give you a mail in rebate slip whereas online it's pulled off the price before you pay it. The real problem with the rebate is that you don't get a check in the mail. You get a visa credit card with $100 on it.

Yeah that would blow. I just dont like how rebates work in general, there should be a law against them, it should be taken off at the register and not require the customer to mail it in. They try to screw you over intentionally and even when they don't they usually take forever and a day to process it. I've been screwed on several dell rebates, to the cost of over $1000 in the past 10 years. Its kind of a sore subject with me.

There are a couple theories for mail-in-rebates. Obviously they are both so that they don't have to give you the $100.

1. Lower Class - not as organized and may not take the time or have the correct paperwork saved to send in the rebate on time.

2. Upper Class - forget or don't care because they aren't as price conscious.

3. Applies to both - you may not use all of the card and forget about it or lose it (If 1,000 people don't use just the last 5 dollars that's $5,000 profit).

Either way it's a scam - especially since it's a Visa card - so they can monitor your spending and sell your info to sketchy marketing/telemarketing firms?

I feel kinda sorry for the retail reps (or retail molestors as i like to call them - sorry guys you gotta back off you are like worse than insurance agents its such a turn off). I've been in there before and everyone tests the phones and tells the reps they are leaving because online is cheaper automatically. They just nod and move on as if they hear it every day and know they can't do anything about it.

$35 or something - tell them that Verizon has a promotion online for free activation and if it is a decent BB then they will honor it.

They claimed they would when I called but they do lie sometimes to reel you in and then make an excuse. So if they don't I'll get it online and tell them to bug off cos I'm stubborn.

I'm a V-Newb. Switching from T-Ghetto - using a piece of crap flip phone and I feel like these next 4 days are going to be as slow as they were when I was 10 before Christmas. It's just a phone I wish I wasn't such a dork.
