Help Home screen battery icon - percentage?

Worst case scenario, when you use the pull-down for settings, the battery toggle will give you the percentage. I know its a couple extra steps but at least its there.

Only thing that stinks about that is that the text is in white. You can't see it until your battery drains relatively substantially.

I think that's a nice little feature. The dev said that changing the text colour would mean having to edit the system.ui files.

I use HD widgets and it has a 4x1 widget that has a power control bar. the bar has wifi switch, wifi hotspot switch, brightness control and a battery icon which has a percentage right onther..its perfect!!

I use battery widget reborn. It's a 1x1 circular battery meter with the percentage in the middle. You can make it whatever colour you want.

Mine is ICS blue :)

Looks nice but $2.50?

Not a lot of money in its own right, but that seems like a lot for a battery widget.

I don't think I would have paid that for it. I'm using the beta version - maybe that's free. I can't tell because it says 'installed' where the price would be.

I use a freebie battery percentage meter - displays the number in the taskbar on the left with all of the other icons. I also have one that displays the current temperature and one that display the current day of the month. This is on my N7. My wife asked me how to check the battery level so I told her about the icon which isn't terribly accurate and then I showed her the battery option in settings but that's a pain to get to. So I should install the meter for her too.

You can swipe down from the top with TWO fingers instead of one and see the battery % there. Granted, that's not as convenient as seeing up top, but it's only one swipe away. While you're on that screen you can long-press on most of those buttons to turn them on and off (wifi, airplane mode, location, etc.) A short-press opens them up so you can adjust the settings.

I just don't understand why this hasn't been implemented. It's pretty freaking simple to do at this point.
I've come to terms with the fact that Google, probably intentionally leaves certain things for the developers to implement themselves. It's not like they haven't thought of the option or even debated on making those options toggle-able. It's perhaps best to just lay the infrastructure down and let the city build itself.

And my own thoughts about the percentage only showing lower than 50%. Amazing, IMO. I use the two finger swipe to check percentage but only below 50 is when I really need to know where my juice is at if I'm going to be away from the charger.

Exactly. I prefer other implementations myself (big fan of "circle with percent" ), but this gives you the percent when you need it, and doesn't bother you with it when you don't

I tried the two-fingers thing and it worked. It was one finger before KitKat. One finger on KitKat brings down a notification center like iOS now. iOS 7 does a finger from the bottom to pull up settings. I don't like the two fingers things as much as it takes a little more effort and orientation (I have a range-of-motion injury with my elbow). My wife hasn't asked me about a battery indicator other than the first time so I think that I'll just leave her Nexus 5 as it is unless she complains.

Ok guys I found a better one.. U need hd widgets.. When u open up weather using hd widgets goto settings.. There will be option to put battery percentage on task bar upper left side.. It's perfect.. Check it out

It was 2 fingers before KitKat, anyway, have you tried Nova Launcher. I have Notifications set to swipe down and Settings to swipe up (when on a home screen), works really well and you don't have to swipe from the top or bottom of the screen making one handed use much easier.

Not to mention all the other benefits Nova gives you. Give it a whirl, if you like it sign up for the beta version which gives you some of the KitKat features like transparent bars.

Also, Widgetsoid gives you the option of having a battery %age in the Notification bar, plus the added benefits Widgetsoid gives you, I have 2 widgets, one in the Notifications bar and one on a home page to complement the standard Quick Settings.

Here's an example Notification bar widget

and here's the battery percentage (top left)
