This app "G2 Xposed" is it safe?

So I found this app "G2 Xposed" that fixes a lot of my problems with my G2.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.xposedlgg2

When I start the app it says "You must have the xposed framework installed to run this module" Sends me here: [FRAMEWORK ONLY!] Xposed - ROM modding without modifying APKs (2.3.1)(10.10.2013) - xda-developers
So I have to root my phone, and download an .apg file and install this framework.

The xposed framework seems neat enough, you can check the source and everything, but what accesses does it give the "LG Xposed" app and other apps?
(BTW: Every time I start the app it switches my soft button preferences to default, without touching any settings. Gets me kind of suspicious.)

Is this safe?

It's perfectly safe. I would suggest though, if you have concerns, go over to the thread for G2 exposed in the G2 development section at xda and read through it. The G2 exposed developer is very active in the thread.

I'm running exposed and it's great. I've had no issues whatsoever.

I'm a big fan of Xposed. Although I trust it entirely, a good familiarization is key, along with backing up prior to flashing mods, but that goes for flashing in recovery as well so nothing new there. As long as you stick with the G2 Xposed edition, you'll do fine as it's geared direcly toward the G2.

xposed is completely safe........ I personally have found the Xblast tools to be quite comprehensive in covering any changes I want....... with the exception of battery icons which I also use a different module for

Xposed is awesome, it just modifies things at runtime rather than modifying system files, making it easy to turn on and off and you don't risk borking something important. At worst, a poorly written module could cause things to crash and make a mess of things running, but even if you can't navigate things enough to turn it off then reboot, you can still flash the Xposed disabler that the installer creates in /sdcard0 in recovery and it will remove it all.

That will not likely be necessary. The G2 Xposed module is among the least issue prone I have ever used, even on modified stock based roms. It's very well written and the developer maintains and updates it frequently, adding new features and fixing the little bugs. Very active in his thread on XDA as well. I highly recommend trying this module and Xposed in general. This module really lets you get the most out of the stock rom and stock based roms.

I haven't quite understood where the changes done by xposed modules actually happen. Does it change the files in the /system-folder or does it operate in kind of a layer outside of the system-files?

For instance: What happens if I use one app to customize my navigation buttons, and another app starts to clutter with the buttons also?
I suspect there might be some problems?

There is only one modification to the /system files. /system/bin/app_process is extended to load a JAR file on startup, the classes of which sit in every process to act. Modules can replace any method in any class at runtime with whatever they prefer.

In more plain english, /system/bin/app_process is modded to allow the module to in a way hijack things as they are being processed, and make modifications as things are run. Therefore the actual files do not need to be modified, the modifications are all being done during runtime. If you turn off a module, or disable/uninstall Xposed in general, it will simply cease to do any runtime modifications and the processes would execute as they otherwise would have. No harm done.

There might be problems, or the Xposed might just replace the mod. Only way to really know is to test it out. Considering that Xposed is only doing runtime mods, you don't really need to worry about screwing it up in testing it. Again, worst case, it messes up the UI enough that you need to disable Xposed from recovery. I've done a fair amount of messing with things like that and never had to do that though.

Wow, stuff with exposed look very impressive, just for the battery icon customization and for volume rockers music control alone I would consider rooting and getting exposed, but for now I am happy with the G2 and will eventually root it, but just not yet.

Love xposed.
So great for changing all the little things I don't like about my device without having to flash a rom if I don't want to.

Once you root you are going to wonder how you ever lived without it.
Been rooting since the original droid days can't imagine it any other way.
I recommend not waiting. :)

Big fan of this app. I purchased the premium version and I absolutely love it. Definitely recommend you spend the extra $1 for premium.

I think getting rid of unneeded items from notification bar is the most important part of exposed.
I assume you can also make the notifications take less space? Right? I have 3 notifications and I already have to scroll. Reallly annoying.
