Root Disable boot sound and animation.

Just wanted to let you guys know you can disable the boot sound and animation. I didn't like either of them so I decided to track them down.

Boot sound- ect/Bootsound_virgin.ogg

Animation - system/media/bootanimation_virgin.zip

You will need a root explore to remove the files. Rename the files if you do not want to remove them. If you change the animation it defaults to the Android default animation. Also in that folder is the boot animations for sprint and boost. Have not tested if you can change the files but most likely you can change it to what ever animation or boot sound you want. Hope this helps.

Glad i wasn't the only one annoyed by that and killed it.

Was the first thing I did after root besides removing all the vm stuff. Cleaned up my system partition and integrated the updates. I have only used 10% of the user partition and still have 40% left on system. Next step is to clean out all the ringtones and wallpapers I don't use. Be like I have harmonoia again lol.

That's the second thing I did. Although it take a while to find the boot sound but now I have a custom boot and sound.

So I can safely delete the boost, virgin, and sprint bootanimations? Also I can have any boot animation I want by putting it in system/media/ ?

Yup. If you want to use a different ani, it has to be in 800x480 or 480x800 and you must rename it bootanimation_virgin and put it in /data/media

awesome thanks! i just deleted the boot up sound but left the ani for now. looking at some cool ones to replace the original.

For the ZTE Awe...

1: Download Boot Animations App.

2: Download a boot animation from the Boot Animation server. It will place the animation in Root-> Data-> Local... Long press the downloaded animation; copy the boot animation zip. Go to Local-> System-> Media and delete the 3 or 4 existing boot animations. Paste the new animation zip and reboot.
