Root just ROOTED can't use android file transfer software

Does rooting the Nexus 5 effect its ability to transfer files over usb? Seemed to work with my mac before the root and now I plug it in and it charges but nothing pops up. The box just sits there saying no android device found. Also tried on two windows computers running windows 7 and one running vista.

Thanks.

No - rooting has nothing to do with its ability to transfer files over USB.
Are the USB drivers installed? (check device manager)

There's a bug I think with twrp. It happened to me as well... Apparently you're supposed to reboot to the system after unlocking the bootloader instead of rooting immediately after.

My problem persisted until I flashed Cataclysm rom. If you want to stay on the stock rom, try restoring your backup that you made after unlocking the bootloader. If you don't have one, or that fails, you can use the factory image to restore and then root again.
