They release a snapshot build every month
No guarantees on a stable version

Well again, I need help....dunno why I am having such a hard time with this phone.
I installed the nightly cm11 cm-11-20140104-NIGHTLY-d2spr.zip and gapps 4.4, and an ics modem, then rebooted, and all I get is a black screen.
Steps I have done are as follows:
Wipe dat/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik
Install rom (above zip file)
install pa gapps 4.4
install ICS modem SPH-L710_LI3_Modem
I am on Philz recovery latest (1.08 I think it is)
So did I miss something? or is there a known problem with the latest nightly.
I also tried to install cm10.2.0 and it aborted on me, So I decided to just skip it and go to cm11.
Also, don't confuse bootloader with modem, two separate things. .

If you rooted straight from the MD7 bootloader, then you bypassed an update that you actually need, the one to upgrade to the MG2 bootloader. The next update after that is the one you don't want, that is the one with the Knox bootloader. MD7 was ICS, while MG2 provided JellyBean support. Also, don't confuse bootloader with modem, two separate things here; you can use any modem you want from VM/Boost or Sprint, it's a matter of which one gives you the best data/signal. You can use Odin to push the .tar file for MG2, it will return you to stock and update your bootloader. Then, just repeat the rooting process of pushing Philz back onto your phone and then flashing SuperSU.
. MG2 being the step up from MD7, and MK5 being the last in line of the 3....so it goes as follows for updates:
.Nice nice...I just re-read your post heh somtimes with me it takes a few times of reading it before it finally kicks in.
So what I am reading is even with CM10.1 rom, any modem will work....this wasn't the case on the S2, so this will be welcome news for me not having to worry about ICS modem for this and JB modem for that.
Also I am currently useing jdsingle's MK5 no knox rom, so I should be able to essentially flash from this to cm or other said roms now since MK5 is JB.
In short MD7 = ICS, and MG2/MK5 = JB, if so that would explain why I could not flash CM. MG2 being the step up from MD7, and MK5 being the last in line of the 3....so it goes as follows for updates:
MD7 = what the phone came stock with
MG2 = JB
MK5 = JB also, but has knox loaded with it which = bad
I'm curious though, I thought 4.1.2 (MD7) was JB, maybe I missed somthing along the way.
Also the MK5 is the last step to 4.3 android and comes packaged with knox, and knox = bad, unless it doesn't bother ya that is........but since I am on jdsingle's MK5 no knox rom, I'm safe from knox.
Just so you know I am understanding you correctly.
4.1.2 was JB, but the associated bootloader (MD7) was not compatible to flash anything custom higher than ICS; I don't know the techinical explanation. MG2 upgraded the capacities of the bootloader. And yes, stay the hell away from an official update to MK5/Knox bootloader, @jdsingle76 did an awesome job getting his version out there for everyone to use without the fear of getting Knoxed up!
sorta.
.Does anyone have the cm 11 M2 without the asserted lines for boost ?!?!

If you can wait for late tonight I can post one, otherwise if anyone else wants to do so before then, please feel free. My buddy @wetbiker7 also just made a video showing how to modify the asserts to make an AOSP ROM work, it is in his sticky for Working Rom's modems, etc.
.That could be why your getting a black screen
