Moto G

Tranquil

Lurker
Is it worth bringing over the Moto G? I am currently a MetroPCS customer but I am concerned about the Moto G's lack of 4G/LTE and if that would be an issue. Anyone else thinking about getting the Moto G? Thanks for any help.

Even so, if you bring it over, data speed is pretty quick either way, unless you're like tethering or torrenting

I'm actually contemplating it as well. Was thinking of a used N4, but might just got this route instead. It's less expensive than even a used N4.

if it had expandable memory i would have bought one just to have it as a backup phone

Hmm, do MetroPCS phones have access to HSPA+ networks? And if so, would it be supported by the Moto G? And I'm unsure whether HSPA+ counts as 3G or 4G...

Bububuttt...

It's screen is a bit smaller and isn't the N4 screen HD?

Does Motie get updates as quickly as from Googly?

Besides being brand new, I don't see anything with the G that doesn't make just $20-30 more "worth it" for the N4.

Are you Sure the G can be modded for LTE? I like knowing the option for that exists with the N4 even if I don't do it right away.

Someone has to stick a stick in your spokes here. :D

Nah, no LTE lovin' for the Moto G.

As far as the screen goes, I'm ok with a little bit smaller screen; size doesn't always mean that much (looky at the honkin' big screen on that Galaxy Mega).

The G will get 4.4, but no tellin' if/when it'll get an update after that. There's always the custom ROM route, and I'm sure that the development community will be behind this phone.

Your stick didn't throw me over my handle bars. :D

how come you always sound like negative? lol, everyone has the opinions and all, but always with the negativity, I'd buy you a snow cone if I could.

I'm trying to be critically helpful.

Sorry you missed that.

It doesn't help for squat to blow smoke about how much you agree with someone's choice. It's much more helpful IMO to point out contrary points to consider.

Thanks for letting me know in advance not to needlessly waste my time offering You my opinion in the future.

(I think Alfick knew I was just playin with him.)

Yes. I knew you were playin'. I also think that (or I got the impression that he was) the hulk was playing with you.

Wow, you took me seriously...

I bought the moto g and have it working great with metro. It already got the kitkat update. I'm getting about 11Mbps to 15Mbps down and 4Mbps to 7Mbps up. I had a LG Spirit with LTE and I was lucky if it ever got 4 down and 2 up. I'm very satisfied with this phone. Although the screen is a bit smaller than the nexus, it's brighter and looks a lot better. I'm getting about 16 to 24 hours of battery life. That was one of the reasons why I chose this phone. If i'm going to spend 200 on a phone, I rather spend it on a new phone.

When and where did you buy it?still waiting on my update would be the first phone I purchased to get an os update ota

Wow, thats impressive, though I wonder how it would have fared if he did the drive over with the screen up, or without the cloth under it.

I bought it from Motorola Thursday and got the update yesterday.

The Moto G Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update was released December 19th:

We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G by Motorola. With this upgrade you get the latest version of the Android OS (Android

I got the Kit Kat update yesterday. It's not a big difference. I'm in MO.

I forced the update swicted to art and and it is a tad more snappy and Google now is way more accurate the camera is better than my 8mp atrix HD on KitKat sure its noisy but still better than 4.3 camera which was terrible compared to the lg motion.

My buddy got his Moto G on Friday so he takes it to the local authorized dealer. He paid them $35 for a sim and activation. 5 hours later he still didn't have any data he had to call support 3 times before he got someone who could talk him through the APN changes. Overall I was impressed with his phone after playing around with it. It's snappy and lag free and feels good holding it to your ear. The speeds were around 8 mbps which is faster than the 4-7 mbps he was getting off Metros towers on his Premia. I would definitely pick this phone over some of the selections at the Metro stores.

If you don't mind, where did he activate it on Metro (I don't need to know the street address, just what city/state)? Thanks.
