2.1 back down to 1.5 WITHOUT ROOT! (READ POST #102)

I feel for this guy. He came in here saying "Hey guys I might have a way to help everybody get what they want! It just may take some time to put it all together and make sure it works" And instead of getting a "Thats great! please let us know something as soon as you can! I know we all have lives and other things to do, so take your time. Make sure it works, and GOOD LUCK!" he gets "LIAR!" "WE NEED PROOF!" blah blah blah.... geez guys grow up!

TOTALLY Agree!

+1,000,000,000

I fail to understand this behavior. This guy could very well posses what EVERYONE has been looking for for so many months. I know that we have been burned and toyed with here in respect to this but we have inadvertently solicited it to a degree by constantly pining over the update/roll back.

Now someone says that he may have figured it out and offers to let us in on it when they are sure it works and have the process nailed down and folks are calling him a liar, demanding proof, getting angry etc........

Does it make sense to preemptively exclude ourselves from the info in the event that it is out there by deriding an individual that has done nothing more than offer to contribute?

If nothing else, logic would dictate that the prudent action would be to quietly observe and wait for the outcome. For all of you who's argument would be that he has provided no proof (ignoring the fact that anything short of seeing it in real life is not proof), where is the proof that he is providing false information ? There is none.

So let's wait, speculate and waste our employers time but for the love of God, lay off the guy.

People have been no here for months, hoping for a root solution and then many missed root because they upgraded just before root was obtained. I understand that they are edgy and there have been MANY hoaxes and threads of people who claim to be on to something and are either toying around or are looking for attention. I'm not accusing this guy of anything because I do not know but I also understand why people want to see proof.

For me personally? I monitor the thread and if it's true, then cool. If not, oh well. Not gonna change my life or make me more or less happy. The majority of folks probably feel this way.

I think theres some justifiable skepticism here, especially after the thread last week that turned out to be a hoax allegedly perpetrated by framework to "annoy the noobs."

If this one is real it will be greatly appreciated.

If you think about it, there was a better way to go about doing this, if it was true. You get the guide and then post it. What good does telling us over a week in advance do? Has Google come out and told us "Nexus Two, coming out.." "Really??!! When?!?!!" "Nine months from now! Get excited!"

It's turned into such a mess, I don't know why we're apologizing to acidbath and why infractions were served. It's just dumb. If there were screen to show the progress that was to come in the next week, fine.

Success stories like that are interesting to see in here. I'm hoping that so many with problems are being assisted in the bugs and fixes thread.

It appears to me that some who did the leak install were doing it to get away from perceived issues that may have been resolvable in 1.5. Some device users don't take enough time to bring things to resolution.

Along similar lines, I get the impression that many with issues in the 2.1 leaks do not really have to attempt a roll-back so much as give that bugs and fixes thread a real good, long study; I would not doubt if many of the problems causing leakers to want to jump ship have been addressed and resolved.

That would be a wonderful thing, unfortunately for me the "bug of all bugs" is the sound issues so many are having. Otherwise I am quite happy with the leak.

Bigbohizzle....i had the same issues as you having to restart (reboot) my phone after receiving or making a call...now i just clear the call history and i have no issue anymore...i know its not a fix but just a way around it !!!!

Thanks I will give it a try.

Speaking of which, if anyone has a replicable way of triggering the "no sound" bug (or "audio loss" bug), please let us know in this thread:

http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-...en-phone-goes-silent-multiple-times-week.html

It's hard to test alleged "fixes" when we can't reliably test it. One of my reasons for wanting to root (and therefore wanting the downgrade in this thread) is being able to test out audio loss fixes.

Good Point Nestor, we should keep this discussion over there...

Which is the sensible thing for the OP to do. All we're doin' here is lookin' out for the better of our members, not trying to test software before everyone else just because we have some form of authority. Many of you have failed to see this.

Well, um... Trident, just a thought for you to consider:

- If it becomes something other than "the sensible thing to do," then it's inappropriate to expect a member here to be required to hand over code to moderators before the community sees it.. it should be voluntary and let members decide individually about what to do with their discovered code for a fix or whatever, in my opinion.

I don't think that's what you meant, that it should be required, but I'm wondering if it could be headed in that direction, however inadvertently it may happen.

Frisco, he did volunteer to hand it over to us first. We did not force him, nor abusing our authority if that's what you're implying. What part of this do you not understand? This is a rather ground breaking release and being that it is not coming from a member of the development community, it really is best to allow the code to be analyzed and tested by devs that we know and trust. This is not where things are heading, either. Discussion ended. Please do not bring it back up. If you would like to did a little deeper and ask me more questions, go for it! I'll be more that happy to address those via PM. Please do not mention this again in this thread.

lol .. I had no idea you would react so defensively about that thing you don't want mentioned any more. ;)

Far be it from me to mention whatever it is. :D

Let's see, the topic title.. (so we remain on-topic).. oops, it's the thing we're not supposed to mention!

I feel like I'm in a feed-back loop.

(the above is a joke) I mean :p

Again, it seems like we're not clear here... PM me if you wish.

Why not just close this, theres really no more meaningful discussion that can happen on this until its tested and released, which will require a new thread anyhow.

I think with the best intent to keep this thread alive, is to temporarily lock it and sticky it. Then hopefully the OP will PM someone of higher authority when they have the information about how to do the rollback to 1.5, then it can be unlocked. Today is Wednesday, this thread is gonna become a hell of a lot worse than it is now by the weekend when we will supposedly get this info.

I have to have an immature moment....
This should be the Final post in this Thread before it is Closed...

@Frisco......Give the kitten your Eris or so help me god he will DO IT!

It WILL get worse if everyone keeps assuming it's coming this Weekend.
Unless he told someone something different in a PM, last thing he said is his cousin would get to it when he gets to it. And his cousin was getting annoyed that the OP was bugging him.

So yes... i kinda agree not much more can come out of this thread other than the glorious 1.5 downgrade

I will keep in touch with the OP and information will be made available to you as soon as we know it. I am now having this thread closed.

Someone with leak version one and semi advanced PC knowledge please come to irc.wastate.net #droideris and seek me out. Also be willing to not blame me if your phone no longer works.
