Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] LS720ZV6 Update Zip file.

Pulled right from my phone when I received the update.

Has a new radio.img and a patched boot.img in it. Also more then half of the system apps get patched for some reason, and of course they add a few more apps to system to increase the amount of bloat.

Also if you read this loony (our only dev) the thing you found called morningcall that was the cause to our reset issue is also patched by this update, so I don't know if this effects your modified boot.img

You may have to make a new boot.img out of the patched one in this zip file and loki it. Cause I don't know if yours will work with the update now.

Anyone who wants to look through it may do so, I made no changes, it's the full zip file.

Just make sure you click the right download link, it may take a few tries to find the right one. It's a skinny download bar in the middle of the Web page. Also sorry for the download speed, sendspace is all I have to use lol.

And even tho I am rooted and have never removed any apps from system only added and froze. I unfroze everything and removed my apps from the system and the update failed and showed a red triangle with a exclamation point then rebooted to my home screen. Hmm. You guys got any ideas? Haha.

Morningcall is a function used to check for certain apps which if removed you will be bootlooped.

I would advise not to use this update. Also radio update was made for sprint/virgins new 4g throttle

My update failed as well, and even with a factory reset it continues to fail. But with loony's new info on it, unless something insane like 4.4 kitkat comes (which i'm positive it wont), i'm not updating. And thank you for this, if anyone needs this i guess it will be here :p

I did not receive this ota update. Are you all on VM ? I won't accept it if it does come my way as I have removed quite a bit of bloat .

I will take your advice good sir and wait for what is to come in the future.

Loony, I was gonna ask if you could just zip it up into a flashable firmware file, so that us rooted users can install it. I don't know how to do this... But I saw ppl do it on the 3vo.

That Sprint won't throttle the speeds of its Sprint As You Go offering is notable. Starting this year, both Boost and Virgin will throttle the data speeds of customers who exceed 2.5 GB of data usage per month. Sprint has long offered unlimited, unthrottled data to its postpaid subscribers under its Simply Everything plans, a strategy that sets Sprint apart from AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T), Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) and other carriers that have taken a tiered approach to data pricing

Confirmed: Sprint As You Go unlimited prepaid launching Jan. 25, without speed throttling - FierceWireless

Sounds like good advice. From what I've read (in this thread and another on the topic) if you install this you brick the phone or, at "best" lose root and can't get it back.

If you want to skip it, is there a way to get the "System update" nag to stop popping up every 15 minutes?

My phone automatically downloaded this update and is prompting me to install and reboot.

What if you have the factory stock phone, no root? Is it safe? Why would I want to install this update?

I'm in the same boat as you - rooted, but no mods and got the same results.:D
