Caution: Hands free mode

I was in a meeting this morning. I have hands free mode set on note 3. My old phone did not have this feature. I have " read out callers information when receiving incoming calls" checked off. The meeting is silent, when all of a sudden my phone broadcasts outloud for all to hear. " you have a call from Stalker **** ****. How embarrassing. I quickly downloaded the Shush app. The meeting was never the same again.

I like my Note 3 reading my incoming texts out and then taking dictation for a reply while I'm soaking in the tub.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to activate it so the text message automatically reads out loud, rather than having to use S-Voice to command it to read out loud.

On the Note 2, it was easy. No thinking or settings involved. Once hands-free (e.g. formerly driving mode) mode was turned on, the incoming text message would read out loud to me, while I was driving, so I would never need to actually have the phone display on, in the event I had an urgent message come in.

Has anybody figured out how to get the phone to read the entire text message, without having to command it through S-Voice?

Talking SMS app is what I use. Works a treat.

I finally figured it out. Your phone will not read out the message as long as you have some type of lock screen security enabled. You must disable any lock screen security before the phone will read out the text message. This could save you some embarrassment if someone else has your phone and you get a sext message instead of a text message.

Oh, I see. I guess that scratches that option, since work requires a pin. Too bad, cuz worked fine with the Note 2.

I use google instead of s voice. OK google starts the process. Is there a verbal command to open and read aloud a gmail or samsung app email?
