So then... this is through Sprint? I do receive a discount thanks to the company I work for... does that count?

Since when was 2.2 released? I know it was mentioned but I don't think it was released to any device yet.. ? And I may be wrong but I believe the next version of android is supposed to cure the late delays. But I do see your point. Nexus one will have this update first. I think it may have been tested already with today's sense ui. I mean I can imagine it since you have all these new sense devices coming out so why not have them ready to update asap?
 
I just pre ordered the Verizon Incredible yesterday. My contract with Tmobile is up and I wanted to get a new phone/new carrier. Should I wait for the EVO?? Looks pretty badass. My prob is that my area does not have 4g =( Anyone have any clue on Price of the phone and price of the Plan?? Or even when and were they will release this info?
 
Here's why Ozcar guide is horrible. Overall, they give opinions or rumors they produce and pass it off as being legit:

Unsubstantiated. Yea, they may be right, but its an educated guess at best - don't try to pass it off as fact.



For shits and giggles we should come up with a rumor with just a touch of believability (if that isn't a word it is now) and tip them on it and see if we get it posted. I'm betting they'll buy it hook line and sinker.

Hey vvplatinum,

Welcome to the family. I think about the only thing that all of us here can agree on (other than wanting the EVO to succeed) is that IF we knew the PRICE, and we knew thee release date, this thread would probably be only about 1/3 as it is now.

The consensus is that, even without 4G - this baby will be worth the wait.

Not a big deal. You are always on the look out for information, so thanks for that. If it is from a source that some of us don't trust, then we won't put any stock in it and keep going. It's just not that serious. We are all jumpy with the lack of any real breaking information so hopefully things will get better after the NY event. Guys and Girls we have EVO coming. Chill :D

Sorry, but I think you give them way too much credit. The $199.99 rumor could just as easily have been speculated by anyone else (and in reality many forum members here have speculated as well), and posted on a website as mediocre as theirs.

I would rather use wikipedia as a source to write a paper for a University like Stanford or Harvard than trust any tripe that website comes up with.

Yes, but you didn't really believe that the release date would be that late did you? It seemed to me that you were just trying to counteract the May date sayers by going the other direction with it. If that's not the case, I apologize. If that is the case, well, you deserve what you got already. :p
 
Thanks to all you guys for keeping this thread alive!!!! I have found more info on this thread than anywhere else on the internets. =) Now all I have to do is Decide if I go pick up my Pre Ordered HTC Incredible tommorow.. Orrr go return my pre order and get my 50 bucks back and play the waiting game for the EVO!

BTW!!!

I just called my local Best Buy and asked about release dates.. I was told by the rep there that they are now talking about a May 15 release date.. Any word on this??

like others have stated previously, i think it would be in sprint's best interest to release it earlier now. i wouldn't be surprised if they are re-evaluating dates and events at this moment. even if it's just releasing to 4g areas first and everywhere else later. the buzz created by word-of-mouth would be crazy.
 
and of course, this is more of an android os thing, but it does make the iphone much more competitive with the evo (for those teetering between the evo and iphone like myself)

apple (and microsoft) is very afraid of htc and android and are doing their hardest to catchup and surpass them.

currently, the playing ground is becoming a bit more level. who is going to bring in the next big thing to upset the balance and what will it be?

I am kinda laughing at how mad you guys are getting about the ozcar site.

Most websites(I dont even wanna come up with an avg.) are majority speculation or rumors, with maybe some hearsay.

I for one, would not take any blog/link as legit unless it was directly from Sprint/HTC/Android, or some 3rd party rep. So really the ozcar site, along with others is no different than any one poster in here....its all speculation.

Its just the same as no one would believe the EVO's true spec's until Sprint released, and people still think there are things hidden under the hood.

But IMO, I think any info on the EVO right now is post worthy, we are getting so little actual true information as it is.

We have a Best Buy employee who is a regular here, and he posted yesterday, while at work, restating that Best Buy doesn't even have the Evo in their inventory system, much less solid release dates, prices, etc.

Until we hear something DIRECTLY from Sprint, everything you ask anyone is simply speculation, wishful thinking, or drunk-off-your-ass rambling. :p

2 of the people whom have provided the most info on the thread, SuperSonical and Self Praise, have already typed several times that May is extremely unlikely.

So unless a credible article comes out from a very credible website, these May rumors need to die.

Obviously, all of us in this thread would think you should wait for the EVO :)

The Incredible is a good phone, but in most aspects, the EVO will be superior, not to mention Sprint's plans are significantly cheaper than Verizon's.

Sprint also offers employee discounts to many businesses and corporations, which could make your plan even cheaper.
