All the software that is shipping with the phone is done.. Anything else new will be an update..

The phone is done boxed and awaiting shipment. nothing new can be added unless its an update..

Holy crap! I guess they are just waiting on more 4g markets to go live?

That's pretty crazy.

Edit: Bunch of chatty Cathys in here :D

Seriously Apple will not play a big role in the Android EVO launch.. Apple fans are apple fans.. The tech blogs are going to compare the two phones relentlessly.

Free unpaid for press for Sprint.. They will compare specs, features, 4g etc. The Evo has the other phone beat..

You will never sway true Iphone fans away but people are more aware of specs, features, coverage and pricing like never before and that is ironically thanks to AT&T and the Iphone

Maybe because apple has sold 34 million iPhones. Maybe that's relevant.

Maybe because gsm is a world standard generally.

If they keep heading in the direction, they will end up at the same place. They need drastic changes to be considered again by consumers. Their image is tarnished over the Pre and Pixi. The market is very crowded right now with the iPhone and Android climbing at a very steady rate, I'd like to see even WP7 and KIN survive this crazy market. webOS needs a lot of work before it will really pick up speed.

Most people have said webOS has come a pretty good way since it was first developed. Despite their financial woes, Palm has kept updating webOS which is a good thing.

Three of the biggest issues with Palm and the Pre had to do with marketing, financial issues, and hardware.

They will now have much more resources and financial stability to rely on for all 3 of those, so things should only improve for them.

Anyway, I digress, all I meant to iterate is that Palm may be down on a slump, but don't count them out yet, as cliche as it may sound, things can only get better for them.

Back on topic, I really hope Sprint is paying attention to the way Apple is moving. If all indication is that Apple will release the iphone sooner than expected, Sprint should follow suit and strive to release the EVO at least 2 weeks beforehand.

Some others mentioned this, but I think at this point the issue is mainly with the 4G towers, and not so much the phone. I think Sprint is working hard to make sure the majority of the markets they had planned will launch smoothly and effectively.

If the EVO were to launch early and WiMax was crippled, this would also be a major point in the criticisms or praise the phone would receive, heck, a lot of people would probably blame it on the phone itself even if it was entirely a network issue.

...You will never sway true Iphone fans away ...

That is so true. I was sitting around with a bunch of my buddies talking about my next phone and hating WinMo. All of them have iPhones and were trying to convince me to leave Sprint and get an iPhone. They all know I'm not going to leave Sprint because it's too convenient for me, but when I was talking about the EVO and the specs...it was like talking to a brick wall. As far as they were concerned, nothing could sway them away from the iPhone.

Hey community, wow you have all been talking it up today.

I ordered my Evo screen protector two days ago, I'll post some pictures of it compared to my instinct S30 when i recieve it.

Yeah, so nothing really new. Just May 12th is going to be great. What i said a few days ago SP backed up, which is always nice. Nothing but a release date and some talked about features will go down in NY. It still will be a great night for Sprint customers. Sprint now has exclusive deals with some of the most important companies in the COunrty.

Disney. Noone can beat Disney. I'll never forget when we went there to buy a time share and the sales person was talking about trading them and what not. What he said about Disney stuck with me ever since though. He talked about how owning a disney property is like having Gold in your pocket, everyone always wants it. Good for Sprint, I think it is a great move for them and will play right into their role, the happiest place on Earth.

They are also, cough cough, soon to be official sponsors with ESPN. I was watching the show Sports Center a few mornings ago before i had classes and a guest came on wearing a Sprint polo. He was a former football pro athlete, but his name escapes me right now. I just thought it was interesting to see, he had it on for no particular reason, perhaps some foreshadowing? I guess we'll see in the coming weeks. I mean nothing NOTHING would be better to watch EPSN 360 on then the HTC Evo. Seriously that would be awesome!

Walmart. Woah if this is not the trifecta icing on top of the cake! The other two give them great names which allow them to penetrate their message to customers on opposite ends of the spectrum. What walmart allow them to do is take up some serious nationwide space. I 4G network database takes up the size of a file cabinet. Nothing bigger than that. Also walmart would benefit greatly from having these on site because they would have free internet access, along with VOIP phone calling, thats saving them 2 MAJOR BILLS!!! With the relationship the limits are infinite it this will surely put sprint on top, as the entire country will be "glazed" with 4G.

It is seldom that we really look at Sprint and appreciate what they are doing to better us and our service, as they have not always looked out the best for us. Dan, my boy Hesse, has really done a wonderful job with setting Sprint up to be America's top wireless provider, and constant largest 4G provider. Thanks for everything if you are reading this Mr. Hesse, all of us here are awaiting the months to come to see the magic that is about to unfold.

I think I said a long time ago that the Evo was going to be a real game changer and not just for cell phones. :)

I may have missed somthing here... I try and catch up at times, but what makes you so sure of this?

To those who have been scouring the FCC, what is NM8PB99400? Does anyone know - it's the only HTC FCC filing from the past month, that I cannot figure out or confidently identify with the help of Google.

Don't remember the last time I manually entered a contact on my phone so hopefully I don't get too annoyed. Nowadays everything is automatically imported from Exchange/Google/Facebook or someone calls me and I just save the number.
That is how it is on Android phones. You can sync your contacts from Gmail and Facebook

Apple sold 34 million phones because when Launched initially the world had never seen anything like it..

It was untouched for 2 years nothing could come close.. The market, buyers had no point of reference. Iphone was KING..

The market and customers have matured.. We are not in Kansas anymore Dorothy..

Or maybe we are? :D

Since the EVO has been launched there has been literally a blog, post, tip or leak on a blog or forum everyday..

To be honest I don't even think the Iphone has had this much hype before.

Even when The Iphone is mentioned it is followed by 50% of the time how it will fair against the EVO specs..

Imagine that the Iphone compared to a phone that has not even Launched yet

That is a great perspective! Thanks, Apple, for bringing your own competition to the limelight.

nah. Apple is on offense - not defense.
Best defense is a good offense,

Yes I know, but one more can't hurt.

I thought maybe some people here would like a review from one of their own, and NOT a VZW/Incredible fan boy.

I'm only using it for 30 days, but the review gives me something to do.

Also, it will give people an idea of what is expected on the EVO, 2.1 with Sense.

Not gonna force it down anyones throat, it will just be there if you want to check it out!

:)
I have been playing with 2.1 on my Desire for a couple of weeks now. At first I wasn't crazy about sense but it is growing on me. The only thing that sucks on my Desire is it is meant for Europe and I bought it unbranded and unlocked so it has no voice search or Google Nav. :(

Is the EVO worth getting if my area doesn't get 4G?

For most people, yes. It depends on what you want to get out of the phone or if the feature set is something that's useful to you.

I live in an area that isn't projected to get it (at least from what I've read) in the near future. It doesn't matter at all to me because I'm more interested in a killer Android phone with some really useful hardware (the big screen, fast processor, high amounts of memory, HD recording, etc etc etc).

The 5GB cap only applies when you are tethering BTW - when you're using your phone for surfing or streaming or whatever there is no limit.

Edit: At least I'm relatively sure.

So if I can't get 4g then I will be limited to 5GB a month? How far from the listed city does the 4G signal reach?? Sprint is reportedly setting up 4G signal in the city of Boston this year. I live about 50 miles away. Could I get the 4G signal this far away?? hopefully.. :/
