Help Software update?!?

Im hearing about how alot of people i no have been updating to android KITKAT.. but for me it says i have the latest update.. does anyone know how software updates work? :mad:
 
Depends on your location and carrier. Most are OTA (Over The Air) updates that are pushed out to phones in groups.
 
The carrier pushes the updates a few at a time in each area, so they don't overload the data system. Eventually everyone who hasn't frozen his updater gets the update. (I'd rather wait and see how badly KK destroys phones before I let it near mine. The S3 4.3 update debacle was only a month or two ago. Has everyone forgotten? I may only be running 4.3, but I'm running it, not waiting for a fix so my phone works again. It seems as if phone manufacturers are learning from Microsoft - version x.0 is a bug, to be alpha tested by the customers. No thanks.)

It should be noted that for the vast majority of Galaxy S4 owners worldwide, that the updates are actually released by Samsung for both carrier branded and unbranded phones and not by individual carriers, as is the case in some instances in the U.S.A. These updates are via a mixture of both Kies and OTA.

There are several reasons why you may not have received an update from 4.2.2 as shown in #1.4 and #1.5 of 23 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?
