Help My Phone Keeps Dying

Jacberry

Lurker
My Samsung Galaxy Ace II is not new, I've had it for about a year now, and this is the first time it's actually started malfunctioning to the point of being almost unusable.

I don't know what the problem is, if I had to guess I'd say it's the battery but I don't know. Unless my phone is plugged in, it dies. No matter if I had it plugged in and charging for 10 hours, a minute after it is unplugged, it dies. It doesn't matter if I am using it at the time or not. When I try to boot it while it's unplugged, it will start up and this high-pitched noise starts, and it gets higher and louder as the phone tries to start up, and when the sound reaches it's peak, it dies.

My boyfriend thinks the sound is my phone's camera, but I don't know why my camera would be involved with my phone dying.

After I plug my phone back in, it starts up, most of the time claiming it is at 1% battery. Other times it states 90-100%. I don't want to have to buy a new battery to test if the problem is the battery, I'd rather ask here and get feedback on whether you think it's the battery, or something else. I looked at other threads but they didn't seem applicable to my case! Please help!

Turn the phone off. Plug in the charger. Leave it on the charger for 24 hours.

The charger isn't an external power supply for the phone, it charges the battery. If you have the phone on while "charging" the battery with some phones, all you're doing is discharging the battery slower

And when a battery is down to the single digits, the first few hours on the charger aren't giving it much charge, it's just "ramping up" to take a charge. Charging a dead battery for 15 minutes, then trying to use it, is just a fast way to completely kill it.

If you DO need a new battery, don't go to Samsung. Look on Amazon for Anker or Hyperion batteries.

I'm just curious how you got on and is your phone working normally now?

I ended up buying a new phone.. My samsung is just as bad as I said before, and I didn't wanna fool around online looking for a new battery.

I think what happened was that I charged my phone too often, and that messed up the battery! I'm being careful not to make the same mistake with my new phone :)

Thanks for asking, and take heed from what I learned: do not overcharge your phone! :p
