caped to 3g

That's lame...I kind of miss my lg motion now.....I like my new samsung exhibit but the cap is super slow. On my lg motion I could stream music on soundcloud in seconds now I have to wait like 5 minutes to play a song and than not end up playing a whole song.

That's like saying "I'm not going to slow your car down, I'm going to take 3 of the 4 spark plugs out of the engine."

So, no, they're not changing the technology your phone is connected with, but they're limiting you to the speed cap of a slower technology. That caps your speed.

Why wouldnt they cap you is the more appropriate question. If you use your high speed data allowance obviously they will cap you. Why would they have different plan tiers if they just left it at 3-5 mbps download speeds after capping you? Makes no sense. What benefit would the 60 dollar plan carry? Most companies who offer unlimited data have a cap limit that they throttle you afterward the absolute fastest advertised cap speed ive ever seen is 256 kbps. So not sure what your expecting when you get throttled but if its an issue sounds like you may need to upgrade your plan.
 
Ouch. Better upgrade that plan, capped data on the GSM network is something awful and disgustingly slow. My experience with GSM 2G? It's SO SLOW,that it won't even register on a speed test. Even with full bars, anywhere I went. I upped to the 60 plan after only one day of that crap.

And you can't take ANYTHING that MPCS says seriously :D They will tell you that you will be slowed to 3G speeds (LMAO here), but they seem to think such throttled speeds that may violently implode your handset and create a black hole are uh.. 3G speeds? Nope.

At least if you're on the old network with a Motion etc, a 1x throttle isn't as bad as your situation. You can still stream LQ audio and youTube. It seemed like torture until I went GSM and got capped.... Well, enough about that. Go upgrade already :D:D
