Facebook sync w/ 2.1 (v1,v2,v3)

It is just SO weird that only a few people have a problem with this. It is an obvious software glitch but why it only affects a few people is beyond me.
 
Not to be rude, but if this is ONLY a problem with a couple of users, I will have to err on the side of user error. I don't understand what you guys are doing wrong, but you are doing something wrong.

As for the Facebook pictures, mine started in bad quality, but are all now perfectly clear. It just took a few hours after everything was synced.

I wouldn't go that far. There are some that have the silent phone issue and others that don't. I wouldn't say that it is user error for any of them.
 
I have the silent phone issue as well. Is there any hardware correlation with the ones that have these issues?

I am not a novice and had zero issues on 1.5 with this.

I agree. I don't believe its user error. I've tried a number of the techniques, including revoking access from the desktop application for facebook and going through all of the setup options again. I'm at a loss for why this won't sync.

Is any of the facebook information stored on the SD card somewhere?
 
I just noticed the HTC Sense facebook app was showing as a desktop app when viewing the authorized apps from the desktop version of facebook. Is this where it should be showing?
 
I had this exact same problem last night when I upgrade to 2.1 V3.

Here is how I corrected it:

1. Go into settings and the sync section.
2. Delete Facebook for HTC Sense
3. Re-add Facebook for HTC Sense
4. Wait about an hour for the phone to naturally catch the full facebook contacts list.
5. Manually link any people that do not get linked automatically (usually names that aren't exactly the same in your contacts list as they are on your facebook profile).

I hope this helps as this is the only thing that would work for me.

I might add that every time the phone runs, no matter what leak I have been on (com.htc.bg) force closes. Anything to do with FB?

Just try and give it about an hour. It didn't work right away for me either, but it naturally caught the contacts based on the time frame Facebook for HTC Sense is set to auto sync. For instance, I tried to do a manual sync for FB for HTC Sense and they didn't show up until the phone was given enough time to automatically catch them.
 
I am having the same problem of contacts not syncing with Facebook. I had the problem with 2.1 leak v1, it worked fine with 2.1 leak v2, I did a factory reset with 2.1 leak v2 and then it didn't work, now with 2.1 leak v3 it doesn't work.

For the people for whom it isn't working, do you mind if I ask how many "friends" you have? Are you on 3G or Wifi? Are you also logged into the Facebook app (and is that app loading your news feed correctly)?

I don't necessarily have any other solutions, but having answers to some of these might help others troubleshoot your problem.

I have over 1600 on fb. I am on 3g, maybe I should try on wi-fi to maybe handle that heavy of a sync session.

Is that what you are thinking?

My FB app newsfeed is showing fine btw.
 
I had the same problem. I think it was because I didn't do a full system wipe, just a davlik cache or whatever. Once I wiped everything and reflashed the ROM, it synced perfectly. I'm running v3 root and it seems to be syncing fine.

- I have tried on both 3G and WiFi and neither syncs correctly.
- I have been able to log into the facebook app and I can see all of my contacts and comment on status, etc as expected.

I just did a factory reset again and upgraded to the 2.1 v3, and I'm still having the issue.

Holy moly, you're popular. I only have 422, and mine takes a long time to finish syncing. I'd suggest just using the SyncMyPix workaround instead, because otherwise you're going to have hundreds of phone numbers show up when you try to use the phone or compose a new text message. (Trust me, that's going to be a lot more annoying than having the sync fail.)

When I synced on 1.5, it only synced the contacts that had numbers ALREADY. It did not add new contacts in my peoples application. I don't really want the pictures, although they are fine. I want the info on profiles filled in for those I have in my contacts already.

Make sense?
 
I still haven't been able to resolve this issue. I downloaded facebook sync from the marketplace and although you have to sync each contact manually it works for some of the functionality.
 
I have about 300 friends in FB, but when I had the sync working I had set it to only do so with about 20 people. Also, even before I had set it such, it did so pretty fast.

I have noticed some mention checking the Facebook for Sense application on my desktop in Facebook, but I don't have that application on my account. I don't know how to get that application on my account. Maybe that is part of my problem.

For the people for whom it isn't working, do you mind if I ask how many "friends" you have? Are you on 3G or Wifi? Are you also logged into the Facebook app (and is that app loading your news feed correctly)?

I have about 300 friends, and I have tried it on WiFi and 3g. I have tried logging into the app and it did display my stuff correctly.

however, on the first leak it worked fine for me. on the second link, it never worked. period. I tried and tried and never got it to. I would link the name and everything but the pictures would work. I haven't had any problems on leak three, but I don't have a link button on my contacts. it automatically does it by name.

I have 460 or so, the sync was done, no joke, in about 10 minutes..or less. I wasn't even paying attention. This was using 3G and having Facebook and GMail checked for syncing and manually syncing it.
