I Stand Corrected....

...When the Galaxy S5 was announced I was entirely underwhelmed. I just saw it at my local Verizon store and the thing is just amazingly beautiful. The screen is brighter and more vivid than my HTC DNA and the whites are even whiter (something I didn't think was possible). The camera is nothing short of incredible and can now easily hold it's own against the mighty iPhone camera (for years the best phone camera BY FAR). The speaker was just passable but other than occassionally speaking to someone using the speakerphone function...not a big deal. This thing is a freakin' home run!!!

This was the phone I was going to upgrade the entire family to until I saw the specs for the g3 rumored to be out the 17th. I, too, am curious to see it at the store, however. Enjoy your phone! Nothing like the initial excitement about a new buy of a cutting edge phone!

Well I haven't gotten it yet. The critical word there is "yet." I am (was?) in love with my DNA but this thing just blows it out of the water. The lust has set in. Now I just need to decide what to do! :)

Out of curiosity, which Vzw store in NYC do you frequent? I visit my friend on the upper west side often and go into the corporate store there. Nice folks.

I wemt to their corporate store in Bayside Queens. Uncrowded and not pushy so I was able to stand around and play with it for about 10 minutes. One hell of a phone I tell you!

Just a minor correction, the iPhone has NEVER had the best Camera in mobile, NEVER, Nokia N82, N8, 808 PureView and Lumia 1020 have owned every iPhone.

Carry on :) ...

You are absolutely correct. I should have said that until now the iphone camera clearly bested any other Android phone. That is no longer the case.

But you are correct. Those Nokia phones have/had the best cameras in the biz.

BTW

On topic, I agree, S5 isn't as underwhelming as thought, used a friend's one, he got it today, absolutely amazing phone, Samsung did indeed hit a homerun.

If I wasn't happy with my S4, I would've jumped for the S5, but I'm happy and I want a phablet now, so waiting for Note 4, the S5 is very tempting though.

I actually picked one up today. I had a Motorola Bionic and it just wasn't cutting it anymore. I have a number of friends that have the S4 and love it. I got to try the one at the store and was very impressed. This will be my first Samsung device so I will have to see.

I have always been a Motorola fan since the OG Droid, but with Lenovo's pending buy-out (who knows what this would mean with updates) I decided to give Samsung a try.

I agree....I have always seen friends and family sharing & posting iPhone photos and have always been extremely underwhelmed. I actually could point out who had an iPhone by their cruddy photos....

The G3's rumored specs are basically in-line with that of the S5, M8, and Z2. Other than the 2K display specs are the same. 5.5 inch screen is much too large and its not like human eyes are able to detect all them extra pixels in the 2K display anyway.

In addition to that I thought I read an article that stated the G3 as having the Snapdragon 800 in it? Last year's processor. It was on DroidLife. I think the hope was that they would put the 801 in it before release.

I really like the last two GSX phones. but i couldn't use them. I must be in the extreme minority these days. I have big hands and even I despise a phone bigger than 4.7 inches. The Gnex was pushing it for me. I don't like having to shimmy my hand up the phone to reach somewhere with my thumb. Or holding it awkwardly for it to fall out of my hand. Not to mention the room it takes up in my pocket after putting even the smallest case on it.

Given G3 will have 2k display, if it comes with anything less than S805 it would be disappointing. S800 was probably just prototype and even S801 will struggle more and thirsty with 5.5" 2K screen in G3 than S5, M8, Z2.
