You keep saying that.

None of those things are the search target.

They're indicators for determining the search phase we just entered a few days ago.

As soon as they said Southern Ocean and south Indian Ocean we were just in denial thinking that it could go quickly.

Nothing that deep goes quickly, add for location and now add more - winter is just around the corner.

It's not going to be soon, imo.

Right now, there's more evidence that suggest the plane is somewhere in or around the area they are searching than in any other location. The search for debris is still important because if the plane is down there, the debris can give clues that may narrow down the location of the plane.
 
Agreed, again. Yet, I just feel that when "evidence would lead us to conclude" is the only evidence we have, then .. well.. it could be a crapshoot. Don't get me wrong, I feel awful for the families and all. Additionally, the fact that we can lose or even possibly hide such a big metallic thing such as a jet is a very, very bad thing for the psyche of the entire planet. It exposes our feelings of vulnerability. If you had a phobia flying before this? You ain't seen nothing yet. This entire situation is giving terroists ideas they may never have had before. HEY! We can commandeer an entire jet! There's no radar in such and such a place! Who knew? (They know now.) This is not a good situation from any angle. I believe history will show it as a focal point. The citizens of Planet Earth will either learn from it (hopefully) or will be doomed to repeat this scenario from willing perpetrators.
 
Unless you're in the airspace of a country with significant military and economic assets, and that's a short list, flying without radar coverage is no big deal.

A lot of nations, such as Malaysia and their neighbors, don't even try for primary radar coverage for anything over 25,000 feet.

I think that the only people getting ideas from any of this are CNN and their friends. They have a vested interest in getting people to believe the worst.
 
If i'm not mistaken the US Navy owned the device they were pulling as well that was searching for the pings.

The AUS PM and his search captain have been on opposite pages since this search started.
 
I believe that's the first time this thread has been silent for twenty-four hours... I guess that means something.
 
For me it just means that I'm tired of the news outlets discussing and analyzing the Australian Prime Minister's comment, as if Angus Houston (in charge of the search) had never spoken. Meanwhile, Hishammuddin spouted off that no expense would be spared. Brave words when you're not the one paying.

The real news is that the Bluefin-21 was reprogrammed and has been operating at nearly 4700 meters down, below the originally rated 4500.

Which, when you think about it, is pretty cool.

But yes it is pretty kool that the BF21 is below 4500 Meters, that to me is pretty impressive.
 
Frankly, as you guys know, I've had my doubts all along. Something in the gut was saying that the longer this went the less of a chance Fl 370 was down there. It's just a gut feeling, with all due respect to the experts who have far greater knowledge of this subject than I. Admittedly, I am no expert, and have no knowledge.
 
Steven, I am also in the same corner as you on this thinking. Until you show me a piece of the plane or some physical piece of evidence the plane is in fact down there or crashed at all, i'm thinking it's located in a hangar somewhere getting repainted and possibly not reappearing for several years as a piloted bomb. It would obviously never get close to most portions of US Soil but it doesn't have to. It could hit several over seas US locations and still have just as much emotional and tragic damage.

I definitely see that the Aus military should be concerned that a plane could get that close to them and possibly cause damage without them ever knowing it was inbound.
 
Early, as I said, I'm not an expert and I defer to your experience and expertise. :) We live in a big world with some very bad people in it. Who knows? False pings to deliberately throw searches off? This entire situation smells foul to me. I can't help that. Something isn't fitting into place.

If my concerns and flags are serving to distract from the topic, I'll gladly refrain from posting them. :)
 
Nahh the news is posting more wrong with the lies of spots of oil and pings. Remember in the world we live in its 3sides to a story . 1st would be your story. 2nd would be my story . 3rd would be the truth of the real story with correct time and events. Remember we both said our sides and what we think happened. So can I ask you who is keeping the truth back and the big question that we both ask WHY ARE THEY KEEPING THIS FROM US. I say this maybe a little more to this flight that went missing . from songs and spoken words in churches we have something going on and our top heads know what it is . flight went down no one seen or no nothing hahaha who are they fooling . I was brought up told everything happens for a reason , and everything that happens has the story that leads to something . for example. Little boy plays baseball broke many windows as a young kid. He grows up still playing baseball from a young kid to a adult. Now that same person is known for playing on a major league team . see the story many windows now he knocking these balls out the park . so with that said this flight went down and trust me someone knows something its on the guys in the suites and we label them as MiB (Men In Black) . so from a prime minister to the president of the us hey they know and Dont want to loose us as people we look up to .
