Notice How Samsung Dominates AF New Posts?

I love my Moto G. I absolutely LOVE my Moto G. If the Moto X was on Boost Mobile I would get that. But the S 5. Its nice but o don't see much of a difference between phones honestly. Ya they say it's more powerful but I was just playing some graphically intense games on my Moto G earlier. My brother plays Real Racing 3 in his Moto G... What does good hardware mean? Why pay $600 more for a phone that a $100 phone can do?

Here's a complex and very opinionated question. What can the Galaxy S5 do that Mo Moto G can't do? I ask myself that... And only came up with ONE answer. 4k video. Can you think of anything?

The camera is significantly better. And that for me is a very important feature, as it's the only camera I have and I don't wish to be carrying a "real" camera around with me in a bag. Also the Samsung has more RAM and ROM, and takes an SD, which can be quite important if one has limited internal storage.

Myself, I didn't buy a $600-700 Samsung, I bought a $400 Chinese phone that's similarly specced. :)

K I'll counter that. I use a dedicated camera and that saves on space. I don't have photos or videos on my device only apps. So I don't need an SD card. Seriously I still have 3 GB left and have like 120 apps. RAM well. I don't know what to say. My Moto G performs well multi tasking.

You must have the 16gb version?

It's a lifestyle thing isn't it? I travel a fair bit, but I also like to travel light, often by long distance trains or buses. The new phone I got now can take upto 128GB SD, although there's only 32GB in it at the moment, which is quite full of songs, videos and photos. I already have a large capacity USB battery pack, so power and charging are not a problem. Cloud storage for media is not an option, as I don't have unlimited 3G/4G, and 3G/4G is only available in cities here anyway, elsewhere it's slow 2G EDGE only.

Happened the other day, friend phoned me, said we're going out to Chifeng for the day, picked me up from a restaurant and didn't have time to go home and get a dedicated camera. As it was it was a really good photo opportunity. So having a good camera on a phone is important to me.

I already have a moderately specced Samsung Galaxy Win, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal, quad-core 1.2GHz, 5megapixel camera, nothing wrong with it but had it a year and now felt it's time for something better. :) Couldn't justify spending the $600-700 on a flagship Samsung. Plus Samsung phones now have some features I don't particularly need or desire, namely the e-fuses, warranty void if rooted. So after much consideration and research I went with an Oppo Find 7a. Even just using it, seems so much better and more fluid than the Galaxy Win. Another thing, flagship Samsungs have become a bit of a poser's phone here in China, rather like the iPhone...LOL

BTW Antutu, although I don't normally pay much attention to benchmarks.
Samsung Galaxy Win: 7800
Oppo Find 7a: 36550

SF, you have a flagship and quite expensive Samsung Note 10.1 tablet though don't you? What does that do that say a budget Chinese tablet doesn't do? i.e. What does good hardware mean? Why pay $400 more for a tablet that a $100 tablet can do? ;)

Yes it is about life style. The only reason that I bought my Note 10.1 was because of the S Pen. My soul use of that tablet is for taking notes. Hense Note. I absolutely HATE carrying around text books and note books to class. Many text books are now digital. So I can remove that from the equation. Notebooks. I have so many notes in my GNote so many classes and their all there with me without actually carrying any of them. In my math class I used notes from last semester to help me with this semester and that wouldn't have happened.

Like I said about hardware. I have the original G Note 10.1. The hardware is a bit dated compared to today's hardware, but its not about the hardware for me. The Galaxy Note fills a spot in my life and its currently doing a well job at it. Its not as powerful as the current versions, but I find NO reason to upgrade at least for another year or 2.

Says someone who wants to be a computer engineer who R&D computer hardware. Its not about the hardware.

Oh lol that's you. My largest app is Chrome. Ya I'm including pre installed. Many of my apps are under 15 mb so that's why.

I figured that's probably why. I don't typically have many apps but most of what I do have range from 100mb up to 2gb (that's where my g2 comes in handy :p)

If root was available for the Verizon version, I'd be in trouble since I typically keep 2 or 3 nandroid's on hand lol

Yep, I only have a few apps installed on my Moto G. Nandroids take up the bulk of space on my G2, don't get me started on how big they are on my N7.

I would never buy one of those LG phones as long as they insist on putting the buttons on the back of the phone. The Oppo would be perfect if it was a 5" screen. Phones are getting too big. I refuse to buy a phone that I have to take out of my pocket just to sit down. I think 5" is the max I could live with.

At first I didn't think I'd like the volume/power on the back of the phone but I bit the bullet and got it anyway. Once you get use to it, it's actually very comfortable. Plus the g2 has the double tap to awake/sleep :p

My last lg eperience was winmo days... I thought id never get rid of my HTC Tilt....(those were earlier t.e.d.generstions. but now, i am for some reason sold on samsung! Now ibloved the dell streak body . if dell kept those up, id be a streaker still.

I'm sure quite a few phones do double tap to wake now. Is it a feature of 4.3 JB that makers can implement?

In certain aosp roms, to an extent, yes. I'm not sure if it's capable without having root access though.

I recall running paranoid android, double tap on notification bar to sleep, but no double tap to wake however.

I may tinker around with my rooted GS3 tonight and see if I can find other double tap work arounds.

Seems easier just to push the button to me.

I'm so used to that button too! but double tapping is a cool idea (lol the 'expression - double tapping' reminds me of Zombieland...),,, and id double tap my screen a few times to 'zombie out' a few more minutes.. lol
