Calendar Syncs

I'm considering the note 3. I like the size of the device. My only concern is the calender syncing. I use outlook on my computer because it's works well for me. I don't use a cloud calender and don't plan on it. I want the note 3 to sync with my outlook calendar the way my iPhone does through iTunes.
What is the best way to make this happen ??
Thanks

I also use outlook. On my PC I downloaded software called "google sync" for outlook. Its a plugin for outlook that will sync to your google account (calendar, contacts,etc.). Anytime something is added/changed/deleted from my calendar in outlook, it is reflected on all my devices. At the same time, should you create/change/delete events on your device, it will sync to your outlook. Of course on your device you will be using google calendar or any other calendar you choose to use from the playstore (jorte, etc.).

Awesome, I might just do this. Is this the one?

Just use Deja Office on the phone and Companion Link on the computer. Doesn't use any cloud services to sync your data from Outlook to your device or vice versa.

I'm using Outlook from Microsoft office, not outlook.com. All I have to do is download google sync and the Note 3 will sync with my outlook calendar, even if I'm using the stock calendar on the N3 ??

I tried downloading google sync, but it said it's only for corporate outlook. Not sure if there's one for personal, but if so, would you provide a link?

I'm just not sure why google has to have anything to do with this.
I just want to be able to use my Microsoft office calendar and have it sync with the note 3 calendar and vice versa.

Sorry, I mis-understood what you were saying. I thought you were the one that had mentioned the Google sync app used for PC, but looked back and saw that it was JORE that mentioned it.

What email provider do you use? Only way I know that outlook can sync with your phone calendar is to use Exchange.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to get that to work. It did it automatically for my work email, which I had to set up through exchange.

No worries, I have a yahoo account a couple of goddady accounts and a couple of business accounts. I'm not sure what an exchange server is.:)

Sadly, the more I research the more I'm finding that the outlook desktop calendar on my pc (laptop) simply will not sync with a note 3 or any android device without some additional paid app. I looked into google sync, but it says it only works with a paid google account or business account.
Just doesn't seem to make sense that it's so difficult to just sync a calender with the phone. Maybe I'm missing something. Am I the only one left still using outlook desktop for my email, contacts, and calendars ??

All I am really looking for is to make sure the Note 3 can sync with a calendar the way the iPhone does using iTunes before getting the note 3, I'd hate for this to be the deal killer.:(

You're already spending a few hundred or more for the phone. Just get off your wallet and stop looking for freebies to sync with Outlook. I use Deja Office (free app installed on the phone) and Companion Link (paid program installed on the computer - trial version available). This combination works awesome. I have been using Companion Link since my Palm Pre days to sync my phone with Outlook and only had to add Deja Office when I moved to Android.

You can sync your outlook calendar on your pc with your Samsung note 3 using the Samsung kies 3 software which you can download from the Samsung website. No need to purchase anything.

LOL...Good call. I completely forgot about Kies, since I've never been a big fan of it, but I could see that working just fine.

Yes it is a bit slow but it works and only once in 2 years it duplicated my appointments on my phone so I deleted all the apps on the phone and resynced and all working again..

The funny think is I'm getting a great deal on the Not 3, ATT is willing to give it to me for free because I haven't upgraded my iPhone since 2007 and I'm still looking for the cheapest way to sync. I'm just really frugal that way.:)

I've checked into Kies and I've read quite a few bad reviews. So does it work or not ??

I've only used it for my International Note 2,in the past, just to get an update. I think the issues people have had with it are more with the ota sync than connected sync The connected sync seemed to work fine.

Syncing Exchange calendars in Android is great until you hit shared or multiple calendars, then you want this -

Check out "Team Calendar Sync"

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamsite.android.calendar.generated

There's a free companion app for it if you have the Android bug where it won't reconnect on phone reboot.

This isn't a calendar or syncing app - it's the missing piece from the main Android Accounts setup. Or rather, it uses that to bridge the gap between the Android way and the Exchange way.

And that's why it's a paid app and not built in - competing ecosystems. Google is not going to build something that validates that Microsoft Exchange is a good idea. You just get basic integration for free, that's it.

Anyway, Team Calendar Sync, because it's an account service, works with your existing or favorite calendar. Which btw, I recommend Business Calendar.

I think I paid eight and a half bucks for the pair. And now I'm able to read and write to any of ten calendars that I deal with on the job. "We should discuss XYZ." "How about Wednesday at 1:30?" "Ummm, ok." And at that instant, I hit save and I'm on that guy's calendar.

Best app money I've ever spent.

I use outlook on my home PC to manage my all my emails (hotmail and gmail) and calendar. Google Synch is FREE (at least when I downloaded it) and it synchs your outlook data to your phone and vice versa. I use Google Calendar to manage my appointments and the next time my power up my laptop and it syncs it'll be right there in my outlook calender. You need to have a google account.

Try this one: Google Sync
