Help Micro SDHC Issue - Please help

Newbie
Hi guys. Just got the Droid Incredible today, and it's my first smartphone. I put my 16GB Micro SDHC card into the slot, but it doesn't seem to want to read it. The format option is grayed out, and when I synced it to my computer it came up with an error if I tried to open the F: drive. When I put the Micro SDHC into the adapter and put it in the Micro SD slot on my PC, nothing happens.

I've never had to use one of these before. I figured I would just have to put it in and it would work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try formatting the card on your computer instead of the phone.
Then put it in the phone and mount it.

Thanks.

How do I format it in the PC? When I put it in the adapter and into the Micro SD slot on the PC, nothing happened and I couldn't figure out what to do.

As I said, I've never had to do this before, so pardon my ignorance.

I'm having a similar problem. Have an 8 GB class 6 micro SDHC card, DI is not recognizing it. It recognizes the 2 GB cards that came with it, but not the 8 GB. I've never heard of having to format a card before using it in this day and age. Is that really what I have to do?

Are you guy susing a mac? I had a similar issue and had touse a 3rd party formatting utitliy to setup the sd card. Once I did that everything worked fine.

Windows Vista here.

I tried putting the 2GB card that Verizon sent, and that mounted and was recognized right away...but still nothing with the 16GB card. I guess I will check out the link lespaulist sent.

I just downloaded the program and put my card in the slot on the PC and it didn't recognize/see it. I tried it with the 2GB card too (which does mount on the phone) but the program didn't see it either.

You need to go into the phone and set the connection to a drive for the computer to see it.

Make sure the card is in all the way. I put my 16 gb card in (at least i thought it was) and then saw that the phone didn't recognize it. I pulled it out and then pushed it back in, this time it worked and the phone recognizes the memory. I didn't format or anything. Verizon rep said it would be fine just popping it in. Also on a side note, some apps that worked on my Mot Droid didn't work on my DI until i got the card and downloaded the app again. Working fine.
Great phone other than battery issue.

Peace, Out!

my phone didn't recognize my card (although my pc did right away- are you sure you're mounting it properly through your notification screen?) until I re-booted the phone and then re-inserted the SD card. I thought for awhile I had a lemon, although the music app itself is pretty slow....

So, here's where I stand. I plugged my phone (via the USB cable) to my computer with the 2GB card Verizon sent inserted...the computer read both the phone (G drive) and the card (F drive). The SD Formatter recommended recognizes both drives as well.

But when I had the 16GB card I bought inserted, the computer only reads the phone (G drive). (The SD Formatter only sees the G drive as well.) When I click on the F drive in My Computer, it says "Please insert...".

I'm beginning to wonder if I have a defective card. I've taken it out, put it back in, rebooted, etc, and nothing. I might try calling Verizon tech support tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll contact Newegg about getting a new one.

Thanks for your help.
