Why does my phone use so much data?

I keep going over my 6GB data plan. I only use the internet at my work about 1 hour a day. At home if I use it Im on wifi. Rarely use it during the weekend. So what else uses data? Texting pics? GPS? Anyway to lower it?

to help save data turn gps, 3g/4g, and wifi off except when needed.
fyi 3g/4g is only needed to send/receive pic texts and obviously internet access. when either 3g/4g and wifi are on whatever apps that use internet access will run in the background sucking data constantly. like i said with these turned off they will help out...ive taught my daughter this and she has a 1gb data plan per month and with these being off she has never come close to using her data up in fact in 3 months combined she hasnt even used 1gb of data

Not sure if you use Facebook. But a new 'feature' on there is to auto play posted videos and that sucks data. You can change a setting to play on WiFi only.

Using 6gb is a lot of data for a mobile.

My phone says Ive used 1.55GB of data from april 27 til now. It also shows tons of apps running. Whats a good app killer to download to shut them all down til I need them? Also, why is verizon saying I used 6gb and my phone says 1.5?

Im currently running easy task killer. I select it to stop all the apps that are running but when I go back to check they are all running again. Also, how do you turn off 3/4g?

Task killers for Android are bad. Android will close apps as memory is needed. Read the link in my Sig.
