Root Working OC kernel?

AweGuy

Newbie
Is there a working OC kernel out there for the ZTE Awe? I tried the one suggested in the guide(s), but it just causes a bootloop and the thread is now titled "defunct". I also tried Awestruck and that is too unstable. Is there any other options out there?

Can you please let me know what issues you had with AWEstruck? The more detail the better. It's a work in progress, so information like this will help me improve and stabilize.

I tried it last night and I got random reboots and wifi wouldn't connect.

WiFi makes me suspect a bad flash. Check that the md5 matches 3a6501f3dac9f237e2b41aa8338766c7 using the ManD5 app.

I added AWEstruck 1.01a back to my op. Can you please try that one and let me know if it is stable? Thanks!

I just did a fastboot of 1.01a and did a quick test of some CPU intensive games and have gotten no reboots. Just for clarification about the wifi issue I mentioned in my previous post. I could see the list of wifi hotspots, but I couldn't connect to my router even though the message said that it did connect. I didn't try forgetting and reentering the password though. Also, I flashed it on top of the defunk OC kernel. Could that have caused issues? Should I try again from scratch?

It's worth a try, i haven't looked that kernel to know what other changes it may have made to the system. Test for reboots before changing any clocks, then use android tuner to slowly step up and test, but don't set a boot frequency yet or you risk a boot loop.

So far no reboots in CPU intensive games with 1.02, but wifi still won't connect. I tried "forget" and then reentering the password and it says "Connecting" and then "Saved, secured with WPA2". But I have no connection.

I have my doubts this will get WiFi going but it's worth a shot for the sake of elimination. This is the same code compiled a little differently. Give it a try if you can. AWEstruck_v1.02.google.zip - 8.64 MB

I suspect though that there's an incompatibility between the driver and your router. If the above doesn't work see if you can connect to any other routers and get back to me. I plan on updating the driver again at some point anyways, this will help me prioritize.

Thanks for trying. If you get a chance, try out another access point. Otherwise run stock for now and keep an eye on the AWEstruck changelog for the next Prima update.

I don't believe so, but I'm sure you'd have a similar problem with any custom kernel. ZTE didn't include the complete code for the WiFi in their dump. I had to pull it from Cyanogenmod and Qualcomm.

For information's sake, what router do you have? Maybe I can find documentation on compatibility issues.

Try different encryption such as wep, this will help diagnose where the issue exists

I got it figured out. I didn't realize that the kernel changed my mac address and I have mac filtering enabled in my router. Wifi now works. Sorry about that. :hmmmm:

Well, that's still something I should look into. Thanks for the effort!
