How do I update Philz Touch Recovery so I can install 4.4 roms?

Currently I'm getting an ERROR 7 message when trying to flash. I've been told its because my recovery needs updating.

I'm running Philz Touch 6.44.9 + Clockwork Mod 6.0.4.9

From memory that's up to date. I'll see what I'm on.
To upgrade, just do a search for Philz recovery, find the latest flashable zip, flash it in recovery then reboot recovery

Cheers for your reply

I'll try downloading it again. I also tried changing the 'update script' within the rom removing any lines of 'assert' but still no joy

Many thanks for your help

I didn't flash at first as I hadn't updated the recovery. Worked fine this time though.

I had to download again anyway so the 'update script' was back to normal.

The rom is called Hypermax which I'm loving!

It's based on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and looks and runs great. I haven't experienced any bugs either and have quite a few more settings to choose from!

You should check it out funky on xda even though your an ASOP guy

No disrespect to Sale and his neatrom lite I've been using. All his work is fantastic!

I might actually try it just to piss off my aosp snob buddies on G+ lol.
One big thing though.. In Developer Options, does it have 'select runtime"?
That's essential to me now that I've felt the slickness of Android Run Time on both my devices

Shame man. The stock 2012 Nexus 7 didn't get it either.
The N7 is notoriously sluggish but with an aosp rom with ART enabled it flies man.

Bit less of a difference on the s3 but it's more than noticeable.

ART is actually the default runtime in Android "L'
Wonder if the s3 will ever officially receive that? Doubt it brother.
That's why we love the devs who build from android source code and make it work on old devices (thanks to Android Open Source Code)
Well still be at the cutting edge for a while.
Bet we'l see s3 screenshots of about phone with android 6.0 or whatever a week after the nexus get the official OTA

Most of that went straight over the top of my head lol

I'm clueless compared to you Funky but at least I know where to come in future

Many thanks again mate :)

^^Indeed. This weekend I hope my sister finally upgrades and I can have her SGS3 (GT-I9300) I get it to make up for her literally throwing away my much loved Nokia 6830 she had (with a PAYG SIM) when I upgraded to the Nokia N95.

I shall be learning "pure" No TW Android in the form of an AOSP ROM on it and will be totally experimenting with it. :)

Can't wait. Validus 6.0 should have dropped by then
