Zayk1337

Newbie
Hello im new to the forums but i have a problem and need some help i have a verizon gs3 that boots up and gives me a warning message from Verizon and when i plug up to odin my phone doesnt registeri need help i think developer options is off the phone it is rooted on 4.4.2 and wont boot all the way up..i just need to know why its not connecting to odin while in download mode.

Yes i have multiple times and
First i get a lock thats unlocked that says custom then it says system software not authorized by Verizon has been found on your phone go to the nearest Verizon wireless store and wen i put it in download mode it shows the android guy and says downloading but wen i connect it shows up as MSM8960 then install fails.

Hi Zayk1337, and welcome to Android Forums. :)

Can you give us some background on how the phone was before this problem occurred? Or is this perhaps a device that you picked up secondhand?

Hi, codeslplice i think ive seen that name somewhere but abyhow before it was bricked i updated via ota 4.4.2 and then i beleive i tried to unlock the bootloadee with a app i cant remember the name its the really easy one though then i tried to flash cwm recovery and it just wemt black tjen would not show any signs of life. So this means hard brick but i was searching around and i found a 4.4.2 debrick image i wrote it to a sd card and my phone came to life and booted all the way up and as i was going to reboot it and then put it in download mode it started boitlooping with the error message and the samsung lock that says custom but i can still put it in dl mode but it doesnt register in the odin application or on my pc.

ok, have you uninstalled the drivers, then reinstalled? That's what I gather from your previous posts.
And if so, where did you get the drivers?
Have you tried a different usb cord and/or ports?

Maybe my drivers are bad can you give me a link and i actually just did that i changed cords then i changed ports and nothing except when it says installing drivers the asks me to put a disc in

Ive sovled it if you use a debrick file and have to have that in order to boot up once you get into download mode take out the sd card then plug your phone up and do what you gotta do

if your trying to return to non rooted stock your gonna want to use firmware 4.3 or higher anything else lower will brick your phone. said firmware can be found through samsung website

No it boots up with a pad lock thats unlocked then go to a verizon warning message stating my gs3 has un authorized software

Nope but i flashed a file and it unlocked it partialy like now i t loads the padlock then loads the gs3 boot logo then turns off

Verizon's S3 bootloader is locked up tight. I have not seen a method to unlock it.
If your phone is not booting up, and you cannot boot into recovery, I would suggest installing the firmware via ODIN.
Now, there may be another way to save your root and TWRP, but I don't know of a way, sorry.:o

Just let it be known that after the 4.4.2 firmware install via ODIN, the only way to root is Saferoot, or perhaps even Towelroot, and the only recovery you can install is Safestrap recovery.
Your bootloader will still be locked, so no TWRP or CWM recovery.

As far as roms flashed with the Safestrap recovery....I've seen answers from, "no roms available", to "only 4.4.2 Touchwiz roms". So I am a little unclear on that.

But at least you can still root:)
