Root [International] I'm tickled pink

So, I decided to install CM11 on my G, today. I just did my 1st OTA CM update. It's just cool to finally have a phone that has a valid recovery (three actually), official CM (and a whole slew of other ROMs), and an unlocked boot loader.

I started out my Android life using the LG Optimus M. This phone did have an unlocked boot loader, and an official CWM. But it never had official CM. Next up was the LG Optimus M+. This one also had an unlocked boot loader with an official CWM. It never got off the ground with ROMs though. Next up was the LG Motion 4G. Locked boot loader. Had to use a 2ndinit recovery and it never got official CM. It had some stock based ROMs but I never flashed any of them.

So, I'm just loving having the dynamic and updating CM11.

yes I was looking on XDA the other day and it seemed there is a lot of options for this phone. Have you tried any custom Kernels yet? I'm going to get the LTE one when it is released as a play/travel phone.

Yes, I had put the aero kernel on a few days before I decided to put CM11 on. It's a stock kernel only. I haven't put a kernel over the CM11 kernel though. There is definitely a good amount of development going on for the Moto G, and a lot more to come in the future.

i hope it stays that way. I also hope the LTE version doesn't have some funky thing with a locked boot loader.

I seriously doubt that Moto will lock it down. They don't seem to be doing things like that (unlike LG). We'll find out in a week or so, after the first folks start receiving theirs (I think I saw that it'll be available the 4th of June).

Thanks...I'll try that one.
You're welcome. Yeah, I tried the later ones and sound and the phone were broken. My Google Play music, as well as all sound notifications, wouldn't work. I also couldn't receive or make a phone call, so I went back to the 21st nightly.

I've since seen that the CM thread on XDA has been closed and the maintainer is no longer maintaining it for the Moto G. Hopefully someone else will pick it up and keep it going. I'd hate to see CM die on the G.

I wanted a change from Nexus 5 Purity ROM......That was my daily driver. I will use this for about a month or so, and probably return to Nexus.

You know, funny thing is, I decided to go back to stock. :D I flashed the stock 4.4.3 firmware onto my phone yesterday. I then put CWM on and rooted it.

Having fun are you???
People have been saying that the reception they have while im using CM11 0721 on 4.4.4 Android is choppy. Have you got any of that.

Yes! I'm loving this phone and the fact that the development it's great. I may not be a flashaholic; changing ROMs and kernels and so on, everyday, but just the fact that it is there for me to do so of I desired.

Now, onto your question. No I never noticed choppy service. I always had good phone call quality and data. There were a few areas in the Dallas metroplex that I would get Edge service, but for the most part really good data connections.
