camera lens scratches

Mine got really foggy, started to get really annoyed and almost returned the phone.

I read about the coating, and I used a very small dab of toothpaste with the slightest hint of water. Crystal clear pics again! I don't suggest trying this though. I read where someone tried it and really screwed the cover up.

You could also use really high grit sanding / polishing paper. Make sure it's at least 1000 to 2000 grit and use a lubricant of some sort.

Please don't try this unless you're not worried about your warranty.

Lastly we're not responsible for what you do to your phone. The great folks here may make suggestions for a fix, but ultimately YOU are responsible for what you do with your device.

Nail polish remover and micro fiber cloth is as abrasive as I would go. Windex or rubbing alcohol and cotton swab to finish.

I had the exact same thing happen. It was almost like it happened overnight. I contacted HTC directly and they gave me the speech about how their replacement program works, exactly like if the front screen cracked.

After telling me all the different options, the guy told me I would probably have better luck going to my local Verizon store. So that's what I did.

Went up to Verizon, told them what was going on, and pretty much no questions asked, they replaced the phone for free.

If I had known the rubbing alcohol and QTip thing would have worked, I would much rather have done that, instead of setting up a new phone again.

Wish I saw this a week ago. I have had fun with this dealing with morons. HTC wanted me to ship in my phone for 2 weeks with no replacement to fix this, the Verizon store said that would be an insurance replacement because they assumed i dropped it. I finally called Verizon customer service and they sent me a replacement through the warranty. I thought my cracks were too deep but they looked exactly like the picture in the article. If this happens again I will know what to do now!

I read about the toothpaste thing online before I went to the Sprint service center (I was there to inquire about my wife's cracked lens on her S5). The manager said it would be a warranty through HTC and I would receive a refurbished phone.

I told her about the toothpaste and alcohol tricks and she advised me to try that first and she would pretend that I didn't say anything about it. I did it that night and good as new.

On a side note I went there to try to get my old LG Fusic's data to work since I added a new line for my kid and told her about the success. The Fusic was too old to communicate with the data towers so the lucky bastard get's the wife's old S2.

Mine got really foggy. I used Mothers Metal polish and a qtip, thena alcohol swab which fixed the problem. Had me worried for a minute. Why didn't HTC just use a glass camera lens? As nice as the phone is, doesn't make sense.
