what will this do for me that is different from R3? I know its petes new gem but I'm pretty happy with what I have in r3 and dont feel like wiping data and downloading and installing all my apps... Is it really that much more noticeably faster??

This version includes a new font, a newer Facebook, and a different base ROM (BBV1). So, if you're happy with R3, that's great. If you want to try something new, that's great too!

I find this to be faster (I can run LWP and not get lagged down or low on memory), but if you don't need to do any of that, or have no issues w/ R3, then it's probably not worth the hassle of redoing your whole setup.

Is there a way to get the 2.1 default Droid live wallpaper? I used the switchlwp script with the one in your ESE81 R3 rom. It shows up in the wallpaper selection but when I choose it I get a FC. Any Ideas??

Sure, I just pulled this from the stock BBV1:

LiveWallpapers.apk

Put it on your sdcard, run the script (make sure LWP is not on while you do this).

Jeff, about your boot loop and SD Card issue.

I just saw this at AD posted by Pete, post #628.

[ROM] Bugless Beast V1.0 ESE81

Backup Your SDCard to your computer

Menu > Settings > SD Card > Unmount > Format

Hope it helps.

Let me know if this works.

I know it was mentioned before in the forum but what battery widget are you using again?

Fab..

Giving up for the night.. it works, but the Off/reboot issue is there, rather stay on your V3.. although I like the new fonts.. so I did a nandroid, even with the issues, when booted it works, but I know when I will need it to shut off, a battery pull is something I don't want to do.. Dunno.. I will try BB and Nextheme only sometime this week

Sorry to hear Jeff!

Pete's still porting over some kernels, so maybe he'll have a non-LV version available eventually?

By the way, I'm pretty sure I can cook up an update.zip of the new font for R3, if you'd like ;)

Not your fault my Droid has an attitude.. LOL

Yeah if you could.. R3 works well, so I will stick with it for a bit

that new font in it would be AWESOME!!

Ok, can I ask a newbie question? I have installed and played with all the themes and really like the NexBeast, but would like to install a faster kernel.

I downloaded the 1ghz kernel but don't know how to install it.

I currently have NexBeast running with the 600mhz kernel.

Sorry for a simple question...

Jamie

Jamie,

Just install the kernel the exact same way you installed the ROM. That is, if you are using SPRecovery, rename the file to 'update.zip' and install from within recovery.

If you used Clockwork recovery, you can just use ROM manager to 'install .zip from SD Card' and install the kernel (no need to wipe any data)

Do u have rom manager installed from the market?

I do, and have installed this ROM through there, but didn't see the NexBeast theme in it as an option. I did see the ability to choose a faster kernel though.

Under the Rom Manager I see these as theme options:

  • Stock Transparent
  • Complete Stock
  • NexTheme
  • Smoked Glass
I thought the NexTheme was the same as NexBeast, but I installed it and unless I did something wrong, it looked different.

Ah, ok..

I have installed from the SD Card before with another Rom I was playing with, so I would just select the 1ghz kernel zip without wiping if I am understanding you correctly.

Thanks and sorry for what I am sure seems like such a simple question.

Yeah, this will work.

Also, the NexTheme in ROM manager is Pete's version, and it comes a little more bare-bones (no HelixLauncher, tethering, etc.), but it should have the same performance.

I have a question about kernels and battery life. During the week I'm on the go, would running the 600sv or 800lv be more conducive too not having to charge as much?

Where are you getting the 600SV (I'm guessing that's standard voltage?). The 600MHz kernel that comes with this ROM is LV.

Anyways, the 800LV can clock down to 600, so I think that is the winner here :)

The link says lv but after installing it and checking the kernel it is actually sv. I think it was a mistake made yesterday in bb's alldroid forum. You can dl the "600lv" but the file is actually sv.

Gotchya! Good eye, heh.

Guess i'll have to see which one works better. I actually dont mind the 600. Not superfast but it seems to be on par with cm running at 800

Hey Fab, I tried flashing your theme on top of Bugless Beast V1.0. I did a data wipe and cleared the cache as well. When I tried to install my apps back to my phone from the market I kept getting force closes while they were downloading. Have you had this problem before?
