It's out! It's out! No more rumors!

Idiotic to even offer a 16gb version. If true, you can expect THAT will be the version we get offered as our only choice by Verizon. At least for a while. No way in hell I am buying a paltry 16gb new phone. My N3 is 32gb, and my 64 gb micro sd is almost full. I might have 3 gb left on my internal memory. I would pay extra for the 64 gb honestly. It means that much to me I'd probably pay $150 for that much internal storage.

Also, I am very interested in the brightness of the new display. The nits and brightness of the N3 are the best I have seen on a phone, and if the nits/brightness goes DOWN on the N4, I may pass on the phone. So internal memory and brightness of the display are both deal killers for me if those specs get worse instead of at least the same as the N3.

The Alpha is obviously built solely to be a direct competitor to the new iPhone. I am very unimpressed by the alpha. No micro sd slot?? Cmon. If newer android phones start ditching the sd slot and trying to force us all to use "cloud" storage I will be hot pissed. I hate cloud storage. It's just more cost to use, you use up more gb on your plan, you HAVE to have wifi or cell service to use it (no airplane mode usage on cloud storage), and honestly I don't want all my pics and things online where it can be so easily hacked. I will stay away from cloud storage for as long as possible.

Lack of microsd isn't a deal breaker for the target audience with 32gb internal storage, and neither is the 720p screen.

Have to keep all things in context. If all devices targeted the same users, then there would be no reason for most of them to exist. Lol

True, and I understand that. But to go head to head with the newest iPhone they should have kicked up the specs a bit IMO. I suppose the biggest marketshare isn't geeks like us picking apart every spec, it's people who care more about look and feel and ease of use. And price. That makes a difference, except iphones are always overpriced.

Not seeing how it could be as bright, due to the huge resolution increase. Battery life would likely croak.

I would have a Note 3 now if not for the radio issues since the most recent Verizon updates.

I can see the N4 from a net impact of Qhd end up being not much or not better iverall than the N3. Possibly.

Current generation display tech is not there yet to support Qhd like 1080p is now. We will see in a few weeksish.

Well the resolution of the N3 is fine - I would MUCH rather have a brighter screen with the same res as the N3 than more res, which we don't really need, but a dimmer screen. As we all know, brightness counts, especially outside. Like you said - we will see and know in a few weeks. And I agree about the radios - but I have not taken and updates since I first got my phone - I froze the update service with titanium, so I am still on 4.3. There are times when my N2 or my kids S3 have signal but my N4 has none - that is a bummer. A top of the line phone with a weaker radio.... most of the time it is not an issue, but sometimes it is. Like last weekend I took the kids camping back in an area with sketchy service - the S3 and Droid x2 both had service. Mostly 1x but still something. My N3 had no service except for one time I plugged it into my truck to charge a bit, then it briefly got enough service to receive a few texts that had been sent over the weekend. I couldn't reply as the service was fleeting. Anyway, point is, the weak radio issue really needs to be remedied in the N4.

The S3 does not very good signal, so not a good thing.... Yikes.

Exactly. Honestly most of the time I am not in an area of service where this matters much, but still it's obvious the N3 was equipped with a weak radio. How? Why? Makes no sense.

Samsung seems more concerned about all the sensors and bling rather than "trivial" things like radio reception ;)

Only 17 days to go! :D

I am sure that Verizon will offer a 16 and 32 GB version of the N4, probably $100 difference

Like Teegun, I'm a memory hog. My internal storage is about out, and my 128 GB card is over 2/3 full

I'm just thankful it will HAVE a card slot: everything is going so "cloud" oriented that I feared we'd be stuck without one.

<--- Pretty much resigned to the fact that I will not have access to a bent-screen Note on Verizon. Ever.

"Let's only sell what we can sell a ton of..."

:(

That's the mantra of marketing... HINT: Hey Verizon, feel free to surprise me ;)

I don't know why you assume that?

There is a 16GB G3 and not only did Verizon not offer it, but they gave us the 32GB at $99. Considering the Note 3 launched with only a 32GB version, I think there is a 0% chance we get the 16GB version.

If it is $100 difference, some people might go for the 16GB. The Nexus 5 is $50 difference between a 16gb and 32gb.

Part of that has to do with the OEM's and their per unit charge.

I hope you are right and the 32gb is the smallest offering from Verizon. With 64 gb being the upgrade option. I most certainly will be paying the extra for the extra storage. They should seriously consider the 128gb option also for internal also at an extra upgrade, but doubtful this variant is even made for the N4.

Well, most previous Verizon phones with memory options were 16 and 32. One would THINK that, as time passes, memory becomes cheaper... so I also hope the options are 32 and 64. I might be able to go awhile on 192 GB  :p

I still have a bit of a feeling the Note 4 is going to be a sensor overkilled, bloated and locked down device. Samsung confuses "stuff" with market differentiation and "it is what the customers want". Management bubbles are a 'bich'.

Be nice to have a wrong feeling. Maybe waiting for the 64bit 810 next year could be the ticket. The 805 still is second place to the A7 and now the A8 is soon to release.

THAT chip would be a sweet Android device this year:

A8
32GB
Micro sd
1080p high contrast display
3GB ram
8MP or higher camera with a very good sensor
Optical zoom.... Okay, that IS stretching it way too much now.

Heck, I would take this list with the current A7 chipset over current Qualcomms.

The bloat and lockdown is often carrier based. Verizon seems to be the worst - and they are the biggest carrier so they want the most control. I will be pissed if the N4 is locked down like fort knox so we can't remove the bloat. Bloat that companies like Verizon hope steers the sheeple into using the bloat which is bloat designed at making Verizon more money obviously. This is why the lock down devices so hard IMO.

I am still thinking if I am going to root my N4. If there are too much crab on there, I might root it. Rooting means more maintenance on your end.

You could do like I did with my N3 - Root it, then use titanium or similar app to freeze the over the air updating that Verizon would try to push to the phone. I am still on the original 4.3 version of android that my N3 came with because I truly dislike the 5 gallon bucket of negatives that seems to come with almost every OTA update. My phone was and is stable and I didn't want to mess with that. So if you root and don't want the hassle of more "maintenance" then freeze the OTA updater via titanium.

BTW, I must have root on all my devices - it is not optional. Just too much I always need it for. So I am hoping someone gets an early leak of the phone or OS and it is rooted soon after release. Until it's rooted, I will not be upgrading to it.
