LG G3 Accessories Thread

Good suggestions, thanks!

It looks like Andoer on Amazon is selling the A6 for $29 incl S&H, sounds like the way to go (The Nokia refurbs are attractive, just OOS. The Powerbot seems to get mixed reviews, either really good or really bad -- consistency in manufacturing?)

Good thing with Amazon is, return policy is a breeze to go through. But, I have quite a few Powerbot accessories and have never had any problems. Quite honestly, I take reviews with a grain of salt because many times, the errors are either user generated or exaggerated.

That said, keep in mind, majority of the manufacturing comes from the same place. That's why you see so many products that look the same, but are branded differently.

I'll try a Powerbot, then, plus an Itian A6. Net I want to end up with three working ones, for different places.
Waiting on a couple of additional higher output USB power supplies, from Meritline. Some of their stuff isn't too good, but a fair number of items are quite decent.

T-Mobile cracks me up. I wish their coverage didn't suck so I could switch to them.

Only one place for me, which happens to be such an important place, that T-Mobile would need to increase coverage (for me to switch). That's at home. If they bump up coverage there, that's when I might just make the jump...no pun intended.

I travel quite a bit (living in NY with all my and my wife's family living in MA), so I need good coverage mostly everywhere. Here in the Hudson Valley, nobody can touch VZW. In MA, AT&T is better, but VZW is still very good. Sprint and T-Mobile just can't compete.

Let's just hope that these new T-Mobile and Sprint data price drops put some pressure on VZW and AT&T and we all see some savings.

Now let's get back on topic.....

lemmethink..wifi calling? wouldn't it resolve the issue?

I was kidding..kind of..love t-Mo, love unlocked bootloader on my G3 on t-mo, wanna get referral credits..shame on me..:D

to compensate:

Do NOT believe in Sunsky 3800 mah claim. Has nothing to do with reality.
However, it is not worse than the stock battery.

Frankly, don't understand ppl willing to spend $35 for the battery as long as it is OEM.

But it is me, everyone can make their own decision.

Not really. There is absolutely no reception for t-mobile at my house. So, if not on a call, then what? Battery drain searching for signal, no text messages, etc...

Frankly, don't understand.

Do you have T-Mo phone w/wifi calling? such as F6, G2, or G3? If not, can you borrow one and test?

Because it should work no matter what kind of the signal from T-Mo you are getting in your house.

Okay, so here's how it is.

Someone with T-mobile comes over to my house.
1) They have no reception at all (zero, not even roaming)
2) Their battery drains significantly, while they aren't on a call, even if they get on my wifi, because it still continually looks for signal. Only way to prevent the battery drain, from searching for signal, is to plug into a charger.
3) They can't receive or send out any text messages, due to there being absolutely no signal.

So, is what you're saying that:
1) Wifi calling will prevent the phone from not draining, while not in use?
2) Wifi calling will allow for text messages to be sent out and received, when there is absolutely no signal?

As far as I understand it, wifi calling works for outgoing calls, but isn't a "signal booster," so it won't prevent the phone for continually looking for signal, when at idle. Unless you know differently and can enlighten me, that's my understanding of how it works.

.

Yes, it WILL prevent the phone from continually looking for signal, when at idle. AFAIK. there is no need for that, it uses wifi.

that's exactly what I am saying.

Except all the T-Mo phones HAVE TO support wfi calling.

Not all T-Mo phones support wifi calling.

Interesting. I'll have to check it out at T-Mobile then. Thanks for the 411. My cousin had wifi calling on her phone and it didn't really work, like you're saying though, so that's really my only experience with it.

Anyhow, back to accessories for the G3. Anybody need a backup battery? This is a pretty good deal. Anker battery backups have been the most reliable/consistent of all the backup batteries I've purchased and tried:
Amazon.com: Anker

Being a bit obsessive with tracking my finances, I can speak from first hand experience that I've saved an astonishing amount of money via Amazon, especially as a prime member. Had I not kept such accurate records I would have never realized just how advantageous it is to shop there. And as you've mentioned return procedures are fast and easy.

I've been buying Powerbot chargers and accessories for some time and they've been exceptional. Because they're so inexpensive I've got two complete systems one at home and one at work. They're convenient, fast, and save wear and tear on the phones USB port.

Amazon reviews? Typical internet negativity. While others are busy writing critical reviews, I'm saving time and simply enjoying the products... :)

Very well put. Couldn't really put it better.

btw, just like you, I have a home and work system setup.
Now that I've had these chargers in place for awhile, I'm quite spoiled. It has become such a convenience that when traveling I find myself bringing one of my Anker external batteries, a short cord and the charging pad. Nothing to plug into the wall in the hotel room just set it on the desk and I'm done.

I upgraded my original Anker battery packs upon the release of their second gen line which was quite awhile ago. The reliability, durability, and functionality of these reasonably priced units has been exemplary.

As of a few months ago they changed the USB outputs to "smart ports" I've noticed not only do they charge between approx 6% to 10% faster, but they now are universal. All three in the big pack are simply labeled smart, as opposed to being designated for iPads or Android as in the past. Pricing remains a bargain without an increase.

Nice. My setup is actually quite ridiculous. I forgot the name of my primary charger, but it's a 20kmah backup batterywith an on/off switch and 4 ports. I have a 10kmah backup battery with qi wireless charging pad plugged into the 20kmah (to keep constant charge) and a couple accessories (bt adapter receiver w/ micro usb splitter, to have a free microUSB plug to charge tablet). On the 10kmah/qi charger I have another bt dongle connected and the powerbit phandroid speaker connected.

At home, I have an anker 4 port travel charger, with a qi wireless charger connected with extra battery charger and usb 3.0 charger plugged in.

Not sure if you all saw it, but Samsung came out with an overpriced 3 micro-usb splitter. Don't waste your money on that! You can obtain much better charging options, for the same price of that 1 cable.

heads up on the G3 rear cover seen on eBay. the rear cover i bought off eBay advertised as NFC but did NOT mention Qi chargeable. the pictures supplied in the ad, shows all 4 contacts on the inside of the cover. so i rolled the dice and bought it hoping it would have all 4 contacts in working order. paid $ 35 shipped from China. took almost a full month to get here. bad news, is it only came with the 2 contacts for NFC.....

seller name vivian-wuu. i am not complaining because seller never mentioned Qi charging but the pictures are deceptive. her pictures shows the cover poised next to a tiny Eiffel Tower, an inside the cover picture clearly shows all 4 contacts.

Maine,

Just got mine in today. Haven't charged it fully yet but it started at 55% and is already down to 40% after only an hour. And that's with very light use. Did you notice that at all? Did it get better as you used it? Good to know that it should be similar to stock.

Fully charge it before you make any judgement and it might take several cycles before you get full capacity. True for all phone batteries.
