Help I9300gsmh

HI, I have a Samsung S3 replica that i have put a custom rom on but half way into the install it turned off (not due to battery) but now it will only run in Recovery mode. I have asked this before but no answer so im doing this again 6 months later to see if anyone out there knows what to do.

someone said to buy a jig and force download mode. this is not the case as this does not have download mode. i have got some other roms and zip files but no luck. hope one of you can help me out.

will put photos up of phone.

Ah ok.
So this is a replica? Not a true GT-I9300?
What happens when you try to boot into download mode? (home/volume down/power)?

If all you can do it boot into the recovery screen, there must be some way of sideloading a rom via adb. :hmmmm:
That recovery you show there looks like the stock recovery??
What method of root did you use? And did you try to put a custom recovery on it?

Sorry for the multiple questions :o

yes this is a replica phone not a true I9300, no there is no Download mode at all - unsure why this is even with a Jigg. method of root was clockworkmod with a custom rom - unsure of what it was due to phone not booting os system.

is there any .ZIP file you can think of that i can use to boot any rom or a .ZIP file that i can use to wipe the device? as resetting back to factory in recovery mode does nothing at all.

Hm, without download mode, there is no way to ODIN a firmware update.

Without a custom recovery, not sure if you can flash a rom, but from that recovery you have there, can it see the sd card?

yes i can see the SD card as i have been putting roms and zip files on there trying to find anything that will make this work. as per photos

I wonder, I just wonder, if we find a firmware update from Sammobile that is the most similar to your device model/carrier, that put on your sd card, and update that way. :hmmmm:
I'm thinking out loud here, not sure if it would work, but worth a shot.
What country/carrier are you from/with?

Edit: I have to leave work now, but I'll log back on in about 2 hours max to look for something:)

Hmm, looking at Sammobile for your device, I'm not seeing New Zealand listed for your model. I know you said it was a replica, but not knowing other info (found in the OS such as version #, baseband # etc) I'm not sure what else can be done. :o

What rom were you trying to flash? (link?)
What rooting guide did you follow?

mmm hard to tell. can i just download all the roms and upgrade from there?

Well, that may have been your devices' demise. Flashing a rom that is not meant for your model # and carrier can lead to bricks. :o
For example, I cannot flash a rom meant for the i9300 S3 on my Verizon S3. It will fail.
That's why I inquired about where you got the rom .zip from.

You need to flash a rom specific to the device, being a replica phone it's not a simple task (as you've discovered)

Good luck.

how about i send you the device and you try do it as you seem like a person that i can trust? what do you think?

I'm flattered but I don't think I can do anymore than what I suggested here.
(I removed your email link for your safety/security reasons;) )

As BynoUK said, you need a rom for your specific device/carrier. That may prove to be difficult.

There is one option, and that is to contact MobileTechVideos and see if they can help:)

thanks to all that have helped me - i have found a rom that has worked that was in china - with google translateing the web page i was able to download the rom.zip file. now all i need to do is unlock the carrier for the networking

does anyone have any ideas (im trying KIES at the moment) see how that goes.

Does Kies even recognise the phone? I'd be very surprised if it does as it's not a Samsung phone and the ROM it's using surely won't be official.

Carrier unlocking is a different kettle of fish, Kies won't help you there either way.

Yes this is correct as kies does not recognize the phone and the same is said for odin. I have now found the rom I need but unable to flash it due to not being able to use the middle button to get recovery mode working . Lol. All the apps I need root permission plus the apps I have downloaded like quick boot wont boot recovey. So close.......

on a good note i was able to root the device with Impactor_0.9.14. the bad news is i can not boot into recovery mode screen because you have to use the home button for the menu to load. the rom i am using does not let me use this key at all (dumb). i have used quick boot and other boot tools but none seem to let me passed that android man on his back. any idea would be great. cheers
