Root [MetroPCS] [Guide] ROOTING THE OPTIMUS F6 And Recovery!

Hello, people!

I'm a beginner of rooting, and I want to root my LG Optimus F6.

My questions:

Will rooting delete my warranty?

How can I unroot?

Can I OneClickRoot with TowelRoot?

I can give infos about my phone: 4.1.2 Android Softver version: D50510J-216-30
Kernel version is: 3.4.0 Host: T-mobile.

Thanks for the comments in the future :P

D50510J? Do you have the d505 European f6?

Really need help with this. Also, after i do end up rooting and installing CWM Recovery, can i install a back up from my other F6?

I think I know the answer to this question, but I'll ask anyway...

Is it possible to restore a device to factory settings after it has been rooted? I'd like to start the process all over, as I am sure I did something along the way. There's no reason that I could see that I should have so little space on my phone.

If I can't do this, I think I am just going to have to suck it up and get a better phone...

You can restore to whichever version you'd like. You just need to the respective KDZ file.

If you go to recovery, Factory reset, wipe cashe, then format system, then power off , You can do the unbrick method to restore the phone . If you check the tag under the battery and use the firmware it says. Your phone should be just like it was when it was bought.

I am still working at this...gotta give me credit for being persistent- haha.

Anyway, after installing Link2SD Plus, it turns out that I never partitioned my SD card. So how do I do that?

Thanks!

I don't have link2sd or any other external mod setup so I may not be able to provide support, but here's a link with 2 videos that walk you through setting up link2sd and partitioning...

Hey. So I did the entire root process. it worked like a dream for a week or 2. my phone underwent some type of android update this morning and now my phone won't read my sd card and says its blank or has an unsupported file system.
Is it really blank? Or is there something I need to do to get it to read it again? Thanks in advance

I have a new MetroPCS LG Optimus F6 with an 16GB external microSD card. I've downloaded and installed SuperSU but when I run it get the following error:

************************************************** *****************************************
There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
************************************************** *****************************************

None of the other app management apps work either!

I'm always getting low memory indications because I can not move any apps or their storage to the SD card and I need to install 3 more apps:

  1. PayPal payment slider app,
  2. SquareOne payment slider app,
  3. TV remote app.
All help getting me past this appreciated!

Cheers!

Did you skip the towelroot part?

Hello everyone,

First time posting. I followed the guidance in the first post to root my LG Optimus F6 (MetroPCS) phone successfully, but have questions about "Recovery" "CWM" "TWRP" "flash" all mean?

I did the following:
1) System settings > Security > checked "Unknown Sources"
2) System settings > Developer options > checked "USB debugging"
3) On MetroWEB browser went to: towelroot.com and clicked on the A symbol and installed the app
4) Installed the tr.apk, clicked on "Package installer" > "Just Once" > "Install"
5) Clicked "Open" > "Make it Rain". It was version 3 and installed almost instantly, no reboot required.
6) Google Play Store > installed "SuperSU"
7) Google Play Store > installed "Root Checker"

Phone successfully rooted.

Now to the next part where I am a bit confused and have a few questions

1)I did install Busybox, but have no idea why I did that? What does this accomplish?

2) What is CWM Recovery? Do I install this OR TWRP Recovery? What is the difference? What is "flashing"?

3) How do I make a backup now that it is rooted so that if I mess something up I can recover by installing the backup?

If someone could answer these questions and walk me through the next steps for backing up my phone properly that would be great!

Once I can take care of this issue, I have a new 32GB Samsung microSDHC Card I want to use to increase the internal memory storage, but will leave that for a different topic once I can figure out this recovery, CWM, TWRP stuff.

Thank you!

PLEASE HELP !!!: I currently rooted my phone using this method and a week later my phone isnt working. What i mean by not working is i cannot power my phone on without removing the battery a re-inserting it. It will power on when the battery is inserted and the LG logo will come on. The LED around the home button will do its color show cycle beginning from the color red. It will cycle through to the color red three times and on the third time the phone completely shuts off and i cannot boot it back up using the power button. It happens so fast, i cant boot it into the TEAMWIN recovery that i am using. Can someone please help me. I would usually know what to do but i have no idea what is going on.
