HTC M8 or iPhone6

portiexc

I'm currently using HTC one X, I've no problem with oneX but I want to buy a new phone. I've 2 choices, one is HTC M8 other is iphone6(i may wait a little if its worth it)

My opinion about HTC M8 :
it's extremely beautiful phone. its design and beauty tells me "buy me you have no other choice" :)
most likely I will buy HTC M8 but I wonder iPhone6's speed
My opinion about iPhone6 :
i saw several websites that gives info about iPhone6 and i gotta say that its really ugly telephone, design is too bad but what about speed. its speed is better than M8? and just better speed is enough to choose iphone6?

what are your opinions?

Google Nexus 4 vs iPhone 6...lol. I can't post the photo from my phone but it tells Apple users welcome to 2012. All the features/specs of the iPhone 6 could be found in a Nexus 4 from 2012. That should sum up why you should get an HTC One M8.

I'm leaning more towards a Samsung S5 for mine but i couldn't agree more with the post. Iphone 6 was a big yawn. The battery thing blew my mind. Make the phone thinner (that's my big phone issue) and don't give the user more usage time- crazy

The S5 is a great phone in terms of specs but the major thing that keeps from buying one is TouchWiz. It's awful. I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet and can't stand the OS. Sense is much cleaner, in my opinion.

I could definitely use the split screen Samsung offers on the S5 with my M8. But I love my speakers and would rather have to turn my phone down rather than up all the time. My parents and sister both got an S5 without talking to me first. My sister had an M8 then took it back because of battery life apparently. She probably went with the S5 because it sports a larger battery than the M8. That's because the S5 needs all that extra juice. HTC Sense sips the battery like a martini and that's why videos on YouTube show the M8 as the clear winner vs the S5 in regard to battery life. I'm not bashing because you can't go wrong with Samsung or HTC.

On the iPhone 6 did they put their antenna on the outside of the phone to mimic the HTC One/M8?

What's funny is that there are some parents who don't want their kids with a bigger iPhone because it will get dropped. Their hands aren't big enough according to one mom. Don't know why parents buy these things for kids anyway. Waste of money if you ask me. I don't have any kids but we would be sharing my phone when I get home if they want to call or text someone. Just like a landline was in the kitchen or living room and everything said could be heard. You can see what they text and who they are calling by sharing a phone.

Two things, in my opinion:

You buy the HTC One M8 for the specs. Its a powerful phone that offers a great Android experience which allows endless customization options, battery life, and total freedom. Its my all around favorite Android phone with one exception, and thats the rear camera. I'll admit that the depth feature is a fun trick to use with some photos, but overall the "point-and-click" experience isn't quite there, again, in my opinion. Other than that, the screen looks amazing, the phone fits better in your hand than a GS5 (I've also owned an S5), and its overall very sexy.

You buy an iPhone 6 for the user friendliness. IPhone, in my opinion, was made for the everyday user. That's why my mom (who knows little about technology or smart phones) has one. That's why children pick them up and use them. Its because of the simplicity of iOS. And that's not a knock on it at all. To each their own, as they say. Some people don't need endless customization, and want a more vanilla experience. Some people prefer to surf the net, play a few games, and snap a few camera shots and call it a day. That's fine. Again, to each his own. Iphones are reliable and (of all the ones I've owned) have never failed me in terms of system issues. They're your more stable, reliable option, but they lack the power of Android.

Decisions, decisions....

My mom is 64 and went from a flip phone to an S5. Yes, I said a flip phone to where workers in Sprint were asking WTH type of phone is that?...LOL. Kids never seen a flip phone before. Anyway, Android is almost as simple as iOS if my mother is sending me group text messages and using the play store. It comes down to learning something. People can't tell me they don't get bored staring at the same apps on the screen 24/7.

The CEO of Apple wants to lure away HTC and Samsung owners. I don't care about Micro SD cards but a lot of people do I guess. They are not going to lure anyone away without adding what people love about Samsung/HTC. At some point Apple users are going to get tired of driving a 2012 BMW and want to try a 2014 BMW.

Good choice! :D

On a side note I have just looked at the prices that EE are selling the Iphone 6 at and I cant believe it!

(bearing in mind I got my M8 free on a

Would anyone buy a brand new 2014 BMW with the same crap in it that a 2012 BMW would have? Or do you expect to pay your hard earned money for the latest and greatest engine and interior gadgets money can buy. You are paying top dollar for a vehicle and I don't understand why people don't view phones the same way.

Also, I don't know about anyone else but I would rather have a phone a 2 year old can't crack opposed to one where any child could use. I don't want kids poking around my phone because it's my laptop on wheels. Shouldn't a phone be a challenge to a kid anyway? Critical thinking enhances when you challenge kids with something they can't figure out.

There is honestly no reason to buy an iPhone 6 over the m8. Everything the 6 can do the m8 (or any android device) can do and then some (except the rear camera in most scenarios). I could go in detail but I'm sure many will summerize. The only reason to pick the 6 is if you are a die hard iOS fan and their software is the epitome of a UI.

Unless I've hit lucky with my One or unlucky with my iPad Air but currently I'm finding the iPad far more unstable. More apps crash than on the HTC which I'm hugely surprised about.

I think the initial problem was me restoring from my old iCloud backup from a couple a years ago but even after a clean install, it's still more unstable than the One. But it maybe poor coding on the apps rather than the equipment itself :thumb:

I haven't experienced one HTC Sense crash at all. HTC approaching this with a less intrusive overlay for Sense was pretty smart.

I wonder if HTC will address the complaints about the camera next year? I don't take a lot of photos so I cannot comment. Not sure if a bigger camera takes up more battery juice or not but I don't want them to mess with the sipping approach to battery power.

This may happen sooner rather than later. Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing for us early adopters of the M8. For one, it seems that they understand the gripes about the camera. However, it may come at the expense of those of us who already have the M8. Hopefully they offer some sort of "trade-in" program if a new phone is introduced.

If it's honestly the same phone with a better camera, released only a few months later, I may be a little bit perturbed.

She stood in line since 7 AM for the "new technology" in the iPhone 6...LMAO! Talking about a priceless caption. She could have had the same "new technology" in 2012.

Has anybody used the iPhone 6? The only legitimate advantage I believe iphone has over android is speed. Is the gap as big as it was a few years ago?

I have not used an iPhone ever, but can tell you that my M8 is faster than a speeding bullet (figuratively speaking of course) and smoother than a red hot knife through already melted butter.

This M8 is by far the smoothest, fastest, and most responsive phone I have ever owned. I have had the OG Droid, HTC DInc2, HTC DInc 4G, GS4, and have used Droid 4, Motorola X, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid Razr M, and GS5. None of those compare to the M8, IMO.

I second this. I'm using an iPad Air as my tablet and to be perfectly honest the M8 leaves it standing in just about every area.

It's all smoke and mirrors. Apple can't keep up so they will have every customer buy a watch so they won't even notice the difference between Android and iOS.

I had this very choice this week. Three [Ireland] were offering me either the M8 or S5 as an upgrade. I had the iPhone 5 last, and it died ... the battery gave in after just over a year, and I never really liked the phone either. I had the iPhone 4 before it and loved it, weird. I felt that the 5 wasn't an improvement, they just updated the iOS a bit, made the phone longer and thinner ... and that's it. I thought the phone felt 'weaker' too build-wise. What ruined it for me on top was the narrowing of the screen, that was already small! so when texting or typing up a quick email, I'd constantly make mistakes and have to keep correcting as I typed. That, and well, the fact that the battery just conked out randomly and refused to charge ever again!

I was also offered the chance at the iPhone 6 if I wanted to wait a little ... no thanks.

I chose the M8, in metalic blue! and it's due to arrive here any minute. Can't wait.

Every review site I looked up [many, many of them] had the M8 as it's #1 of the year [to date] in their 'top 10 smart phone' listings.

I hope I get along well with it. I'm sure I will.

I have an iPad mini, so the decision was much easier for me, as I can still use that for iOS stuff I like ... but honestly, even if I didn't have that on the side, I'd still have gone with the HTC.
