I'm going to be at the event in NYC but I'm not expecting any major announcements. If anything, they might have some info that's under embargo, but that's about it.

Aside from Jeph Ghost, weren't there a few others that got invites to the NYC event? If anything, hopefully it'll just be an enjoyable event (regardless of what information comes out regarding the EVO...although, I'm sure we're all hoping that there will be some good stuff that you all can report back to the masses).
 
I reset the poll so that it has 4 different release dates instead of just yes/no. Vote if you'd like to. I also edited the first post on the poll thread, so you might want to reread that before you vote. Again, I voted for May 22nd and gave my reasons why I believe in that date, but from this point forward, I'm not going to push it.

Thanks to everyone. I'm happy to have the thread open again. Thanks to TS for all the extra work. Sorry it had to come at a time when you're getting ready to go on vacation. Anyway, I hope you have a fun trip.

Well, I was trying to see if I could get comp tickets to it, but when Self Praise mentioned that it wouldn't have anything linked to the EVO specifically, I decided not to look into it anymore.

If I paid for tickets, would've been at least the same price (if not more) of the EVO for 1 ticket!...LOL
 
Hey all, I just wanted to take a moment to publicly thank billsmed, eieio, RiverOfIce, Supersonical and everyone else who's made this such a great thread! I also wanted to give an extra special thanks to twospirits, for being such an amazing mod! Not only have you been around the whole time, but you've put in countless hours going through literally thousands of posts and have been very friendly and open to everyone.

I've been a long time lurker, first time poster here, and I'm glad the thread was opened up again. I registered on androidforums on Friday, and to show my appreciation for it feeding my addiction, I made a small contribution and became a premium member. I encourage you all to make a small donation as well. Everyone here has been extremely helpful to all of us.

Now, on to the Evo. I'm still using a Treo 700wx, so I know technology has changed a lot since then. I also stream a lot of music and video (using orb) onto my phone. Problem is, even if I have the phone on the charger, as I stream throughout the day my battery still drains (and unfortunately, I can't stream with just the power cable, the battery has to be charged). I wanted to see if anyone with a newer phone has any experience with this. Do any of you think it'll be possible to keep the Evo on the charger and not drain the battery when streaming media files?

And finally, a crazy prediction. I'll also start by saying that this is highly improbable, but not impossible. Jackson keeps hinting at surprises, well... How cool would it be, if as part of Sprint & Disney's partnership on the phone, they allowed users to stream the entire Prince of Persia movie on their Evo's?! It would be excellent marketing because you can watch a Summer blockbuster right on your phone! It'll also be the first time anything like this will ever take place, so it'll create a lot of buzz. I'm not suggesting they include a copy of a movie that just opened, but rather a way to stream the movie once after you get the phone.

Also, please take that in context, I know that there's tons of other issues with the idea (such as areas without 4G coverage, and licensing issues), but it would be pretty bad ass, wouldn't it?!! :)
 
Thanks, thaprinze. Good first post and welcome to the AF forums. It's cool too, that you opted for the premium membership right off the bat. Others should do that also to show their support for this awesome forum.
 
i think sprint would piss off a lot of people if they dont announce at least a price and release date on the 12th.

it seems like 4g is popping up everywhere but the sf bay area :(

as long as everyone is respected and no adding in on or against peoples bashing then we should be good.

other then that say what you want on a respectful level. all we can do is learn and share info here.
