Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Welcome Matthew! I almost got a Muziq way back when, but ended up not liking it and got a Katana instead. Glad I switched because I don't think i could have lasted this long with the Muziq...its been hard enough with the stinkin' Katana.

I'm glad you got to test drive the HD2 for size comparison. Today I went to check out the Incredible to get a peek at the UI and Sense format. It was super exciting, I'm even more jazzed up about getting the Evo and soon. I really liked the responsiveness of the screen and keyboard, and Sense all together. But as Billsmed had mentioned he thought the screen was too slender and boy was he right. It it just enough of a dimensional skew on the smaller screen to be awkward and annoying.

The one thing I forgot to do was mess with the live backgrounds like I wanted, but oh well it gives me something else to look forward to on E-Day.

That's funny, my wife got a Katana II when I got my Muziq. I actually got a Razor v9 first, then switched to the Muziq, mostly because I could barely hear people's voices with a full signal even.

Checking out the Incredible is my next step--I've only had the pleasure of using one android phone, which was a friend's Cliq. I just can't wait to have a smartphone, period. I've been eligible for an upgrade since November, but I've been holding off b/c I want an android so bad, but didn't want a Moment, and luckily have been able to stop myself from settling on a Hero. I even thought about switching carriers (never been with any other than Sprint), but that idea went up in smoke in a hurry when I compared plan prices.

There is no reason to mod it. None, zip, zero.

The "mod" he is talking about has been out for 236 days.

CLEAR Developer

There is very little conflict between wimax and android.

What part of Google as a founding member of wimax, makes you think wimax will not work by default?
I haven't read everything here yet, so somebody may have answered, but a week or so ago SP said "the EVO will not come with Froyo, instead it will come with 2.1 moded to work with 4G." (maybe not his exact words, but same idea).

Still do not understand why it needs to be modded for 2.1. Wimax has been supported since 1.0.

I have a question. I've been thinking about upgrading to a Hero say about mid-May, then switching to the Evo inside the "30-day Satisfaction Guarantee" window. One reason is that I would like to get used to some of the features of Android before getting the Evo, so that when I do get it, I only have to learn the features which are new on it from other phones.

One thing I'm worried about, though, is that if I get the Hero in mid-May, then the release date ends up being pushed back, and it's outside of my 30-day window, then what? Could I return the Hero and go back to my old phone, and still be upgrade eligible?

I believe you CAN do that. Just return the Hero.

EDIT: The 30 Day Guarantee that was just implemented last month was to comfort the people who either were planning to test out Sprint or planning to upgrade there plan.

Normally you would get charged on txts and or internet based on how much you used if you decided to return your phone within 30 days and chose not to sign with Sprint or chose not to upgrade your plan. Hopefully you understand what I mean as it does sound a bit confusing.

The new guarantee does away with those charges.

Is there not a difference between roams globally and global roaming
True that in the pics one does not see a sim card, but the play of words on that site is peaking my curiosity. If it does, it will be the best kept secret and a killer feature. Flagship phone and world capable. That would be so cool. But I don't see it. I wish it was though.

I wonder if that pic of the rinky dink micro sd card is actually a sim slot... Are they about the same size, never handled one... didn't make sense it had such a tiny sd card... Speculation only... Along with the whole sim card, i guess it could roam globally on a 4g network with voip too... Ugh... Lol

I'm not sure either. I don't have any links to share, but I remember reading the same thing in several different places, so there must be something to it.

I do believe microSD cards are smaller than normal SIM cards BUT hasn't ATT made a micro SIM card recently?? Maybe I can find the link....

EDIT: I've found the link but I'm not sure if the EVO would have one of these as these micro SIM cards aren't even out yet... At this point, who knows lol.

I believe the EVO is coming out sooner than you think. Check this link.

Hey all, long time lurker.:D Just wondering if there are any Sprint employees here with access to the warehouse data. I know on the Incredible thread, the warehouse added the model number to their data field 4 or 5 weeks before they released the phone. I know its not much, but would be cool to know. :)

The more I think about it, I'll probably just stick with my p.o.s. Muziq, then my first smartphone and first android phone with be the almighty Evo.

Had someone posted pics of the inside of the battery or am i making that up as well... Studying for finals week and having to keep up with this forum is very difficult...lol. If someone feels like it link to them pls? If not, or they don't exist, thx anyway, and I'm sorry for confusing anyone.

Check Endgadget or Slashgear both reported Sprint Evo added to invetory April 12th

Goodnight my evo fan and friends.
"Goodnight Mary Ellen"
im out too. night everyone. sweet, evo dreams
"Goodnight Jim-Bob"
Good nite all
"Goodnight John-Boy"

I realize I am not helping the situation, but...

Although it is nice to know when people are on or signing off (so I don't feel like I am talking to the wall), and I like the family atmosphere here on the Android forums, I don't think we need to say goodnight every night or greet every morning at the breakfast table. I'm just throwin' it out there. It has become a bit of a pet peeve of mine. (why waste space on this already incredibly long topic?)

I had to go to three different sprint stores today, trying to track down a replacement usb-ext/2.5mm/usb cable and avoid buying one on the internet and waiting for it to ship. Of course I asked each employee I talked to what they thought of the EVO, and none of them knew anything about it except for one girl who was way too cute to be working in a sprint store who told me late June. I'm hoping she'll be an EVO advocate so I have an excuse to go back there. By the way, where was it confirmed that there are so called "evo advocates"? Is this something they did with past devices, and is there anywhere I can read more about it?

Edit: Forgot to mention that I tested each employee to see if there were any truly hardcore fans, by referring to it initially as the HTC Supersonic at each store. Nobody knew what I was talking about.

Yea, the 2gb msd seemed a little...to little? Stuck out as. Something that didn't belong, to me at least... Only speculating, of course :)
