anyone having better luck than me?

The HTC Desire 510 has a 64bit chipset which could be the reason no known root methods work. And even if we did get a root method to succeed its hard to say if the SU binary would even execute. This device is the first device to have a 64bit mobile chipset. Just thought i would throw that out there for anyone that didn't know. I too own one of these device's and was hoping to root and create a Rom, Seems like i will have to build CWM first.

Please be very very cautious about posting links for root from blogsites such as that one.
That blog was made before the device even came out.
As shinru2004 says, there are no known methods for root.
Looking thru the XDA threads:

HTC Desire 510 - XDA Forums

I see no method for root, only unlocking the bootloader.

So please post links to trusted sources such as XDA or here at AF;)
Thanks.

Go into adb shell
Type "su" (root is needed for su to work.
Cat/proc/mtd

It will have list of all partitions on your phone.
Look for the partition marked boot.img (there's also one marked "recovery"

Type "cat /dev/mtd/mtd2 > /sdcard/mtd2.img or
cat /dev/mtd/mtd2 > /sdcard/boot.img

Again it won't work without root.

Damn it sucks how do your exploit root then

At the moment there are no know exploits for this phone. We will probably have to wait for a RUU to be released by HTC to extract a working recovery. As depressing as that sounds that may be our only option.

please bare with me because I am new at this, I only have a few years at this. could we use a program like gncroot wheezy to fake a root and then some how pull the recovery and boot.img off of es file explorer or some other file system app that might see it as a rooted phone

you need a little faith

what do you think about the ideal. do you think that it might go.
fake a root? ill go out on a limb and say thats notta gonna worka...
